Anaise is AMAZING! She was truly a ray of sunshine and made my friends and I stay so much better.
We arrived at the hotel at 8 AM and knew we couldn’t check in that early. However, we thought we’d give it a try and went to the front desk at 9 AM. Anaise was very cheerful, courteous and kind and recognized our reward status. Not only did she say she could check us in early, she also upgraded us to a king suite. It is nice to be appreciated as a guest and for Anaise to go above and beyond. It made all the difference in our stay!
I would also like to recognize Abel and Jamela as they guided us with directions and suggestions. Thanks to them, we encountered lovely restaurants during our stay.
Great location. The public spaces are beautiful. The room was small. The mini fridge and coffee maker did not work. Engineering did come and swap them out. We received ice from room service in a bag. They had no ice buckets. The hotel has no microwaves to heat food up when you take away or order room service from the hotel restaurant.
Had a wonderful experience traveling with my four year old twins. Abel and Anaise at the front desk went out of their way to help us, the room was spacious and well designed and my twins had a wonderful first hotel stay! Highly recommend.
Thank for the great service Anaise and Abel!
The location
The staff, the quality of the rooms
Anaise was really helpful and friendly and she did an amazing job with helping not just myself and my family but I also watched how well she treated the other guests that were either check again or that were asking questions. When you asked him a question she was gave you comprehensive information and even gave you other Alternatives which I thought was incredibly helpful definitely a five-star service
Clean, Great Customer Service and Great Location
Our son lives in Brooklyn, so we visit NYC regularly. We chose Hotel Indigo this time because of its location, which is kind of a double-edged sword. It's convenient to Williamsburg and Bushwick, where we spend a lot of time when we're there, so it seemed like a good pick, but its location otherwise isn't great.
It's situated next door to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, with all that entails. Pretty sure its rooftop pool overlooks the highway. The neighborhood is also not what one would call a "garden spot." To many out-of-towners not accustomed to NYC, it might seem pretty seedy, although our son says a club next-door to the hotel called Rocka Rolla is a really great dive bar with good live music.
All of this you might be able to deal with, so then it comes down to SERVICE when evaluating the hotel, and this is a big, generic chain hotel -- nothing special, no real charm. It's serviceable. Some people might prefer that.
Thing is, when you arrive and have to wait to register at the reception desk, and one of the receptionists seems to be having a long-drawn out conversation with someone who may be a friend or a guest (hard to tell) as you wait with all your luggage, it's a bit aggravating, especially after a 6-hour trip to get there and neither of them even says, "Be with you right away." (C'mon, IHG, maybe send your employees to hospitality school?)
Then, when the other receptionist seems not too happy to be working that day, and is basically efficient but in no way welcoming or helpful, well ... it's NOT a great first impression. She told us the rooftop bar was opening at 5p, but didn't offer any directions on how to get there, so when we tried using the elevators from our room -- no dice. A housekeeper nearby let us know we couldn't get to the roof from those elevators so we had to go down to the reception desk to ask how to get to this mystery bar, which was from a different bank of elevators on the other side of the lobby. MAYBE someone could have told us this to begin with?? OR, there could be some kind of literature in the room with information about services, locations, hours, menus? Seems like most legitimate hotels have always had this. So ... strike one.
The room was clean and the beds comfortable, but the shower floor was extremely slippery, as if the soap hadn't been thoroughly rinsed from it (liability alert!) and the water pressure was OK, but the design of the plumbing features made it almost impossible to find just "warm" -- the water was either too hot or too cold and it made me think that maybe the guests above or below us were also showering or something. Strike Two. (Decent beds and good water pressure are baseline for me when evaluating a hotel.)
Finally, my partner smokes. It's NOT good, we know that, but it is what it is. This hotel has a HUGE patio on the Metropolitan Ave. side (which it locks at night, BTW, so you can't get in that way late and have to walk around the block to a different entrance -- again, might someone have MENTIONED this?) but there are "No smoking" signs everywhere and the same around the alternate entrance. There is NO designated smoking area that we could locate, which seems preposterous in 2026 at major hotel chain. Look, we all know smokers will go the way of the dinosaurs, but the fact of the matter is, some guests still smoke and there should be an accommodation somewhere. That's just hospitality. It's kind of inexcusable. So, strike three and ... you're out.
Obviously, we regretted choosing this hotel. We won't be staying there again or recommending it to anyone we know.
A miscommunication with front desk. Getting locked out when it was not time to check out. Slow elevators
Convenient, room was comfortable and spacious.
Very poor WiFi
