Hyatt Place Grand Rapids Downtown

My wife and I stayed here after major storms in NW Indiana caused a power/internet outage at our summer home. The Jordan was great in helping us with an extra office chair in our room so we could work during the day. In the evenings we explored the immediate downtown Grand Rapids area. There are many great dining options and some incredible early 1900's architecture. We really enjoyed or stay and are grateful to all of the staff members including Kaylynn, who made a potentially stressful time easier for us. Thanks!

Great happy hour atmosphere! Bartender Emma accommodated our large work group with a warm smile and cold drinks. Without her help, we would have scrambled for another venue. The Hyatt Place is now our go-to for drinks and cocktails with friends!

The Hyatt Place is a nice and well-maintained mid-grade hotel in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. It is walking distance from most major venues. The rooms are clean and comfortable. They have sensor lighting as well as switches. Most have a seating area, bed, and desk and are a bit larger that standard rooms. There is a free breakfast, an evening bar for cocktails, a small snack shop, and ramp parking for $38/night (with in and out privileges). There is the normal noise of a hotel situated in an urban center, some traffic, occasional sirens, but overall, peaceful.

My experience at this hotel was an absolute nightmare for my family and me. After traveling with my family, we arrived only to be told that the hotel did not have our room available and that they were completely sold out.
Not only did they fail to honor our reservation—through no fault of our own—but the front desk staff handled the situation with total indifference and a terrible attitude. The employee was exceptionally rude, showed zero empathy for the predicament they put our family in, and offered a dismissive "discount" on parking as if that makes up for leaving a family without a place to stay.
Management needs to address both their overbooking policies and the complete lack of customer service at the front desk. I would strongly caution families against booking here.

Breakfast was good. Could have had some sweet rolls. Area was clean, staff was very friendly. I felt comfortable.

Cute little college town. There are a couple of homeless people wondering the streets, but all in all a cute quiet and historical looking town. Hotel was great! Clean and well taken care of. Staff was helpful.

Excellent location, friendly staff and comfortable room! Would not hesitate to stay again when we are in the area. The breakfast was above average too which was a nice surprise!

Nice rooms that overlook the city. Very comfortable beds. The breakfast in the morning has a lot of variety and is of pretty high quality. This hotel is a great value downtown.

Location

I was on vacation with my family in Grand Rapids and we stopped for the night at the downtown Hyatt Place. The staff was very friendly/helpful, the hotel was very well kept and is conveniently located to a lot of food options.

Kaylynn was the absolute best and made our experience very fun and memorable.

Emma was the best bartender! She made sure we knew about the best cookies in the world. Dream team, but Emma was the star of the show. Self proclaimed. But she is really the best.
