Wingate Hotel.
Be warned, numerous issues to be found here, a statement of overpriced is only the beginning for what this hotel holds..
-door doesn't close properly..!
-Issues with Plumbing. Worthy of investigators in by Health department..
Very old plumbing fixtures, no hot water for the shower. Bathtub prone to fill up with sewage, issues with toilet flushing, frequent gurgles during the night.
No gym, pool is dirty and contaminated with algae. You think tossing a bleached tablet a timer or two per day would be pretty easy, not here.
Housekeeping only available if you call same day.. Only two towels per room.
Some rooms do not have refrigerators, suitcase holders or hairdryers.
AC doesn't stay on for long and needs manual intervention to keep the room cool..
Lots of wear a tear around the room.
The TV is very basic cable, a number of channels that are just static, a handful of other stations have poor reception and audio skips out..
Water refill station runs out of water.
Complementary breakfast is watery scrambled eggs and sausage. No variety. A few baked goods, a couple of yogurts, day 2 no oj/milk/bread/yogurt/ no crowd either 30 mins no service , dry cereal. Very very basic breakfast that maybe works for one day..
Staff are friendly enough, however not always available when you call. Calling zero for room service gets the neighboring hotel which is shared ownership with the Wingate..
One of the elevators is out of service, making a long walk needed to drag your luggage around the hotel and then up the stairs and back around to your room.
Side and back parking areas are very unsightly and not maintained.
Should be a number of other hotels in the area better price and better quality. One star rating..
The beds were ok
And the location was excellent for a Houston rodeo
Super pricey
Installations too old
The room not clean at all
Location
1. Furnishings especially rugs are old
2. Lack of complimentary breakfast
3. Poor wifi
Location is perfect if you’re going to the NRG. Parking is just $20/night. We stayed in Bldg 5 and rooms are very outdated and not kept up. Our A/C wouldn’t adjust to the temperature we set it in so it was freezing. We had to shut it down. Coffee maker didn’t work. Outside door closest to room wouldn’t open from outside.
It was a good location for the event that we attended
The facility is old in a little rundown. It had a distinct odor when you first walked in.. no microwave in the room..
Terrible hotel. Do not stay here. If I could rate it a negative number, I would. Just nasty!
It was close to the stock show
Well, there was people sitting out front when you came in charging people to park one that was $25. The next night was $50 a parking spot. Well customers of the hotel couldn’t find a place to park cause people was parking everywhere. I drove around for over an hour one that trying to get a parking place and finally had to park on the grass. Complaining to the hotel staff and call corporate office and all they want to do was give me some points. I told him I’d never stay there again. I didn’t need their points.
The room size and location,
Smelled stale, old and dusty throughout building, no ice machine working, nothing was sanitized. Blankets smelled as if they hadn't been washed....no microwave and refrigerator wasn't working properly
Close to nrg
I paid over $500 to stay there for 2 nights and they made me pay $40 per night to park thats sad thing to do someone that stays there !!!!!!
Great location
Where do I even start. Well, after checking in to a room that was $189 a night I questioned my decision to not go to my usual Marriott for the elite points earned there and after this stay I’ll never question it again. There was a tattoo convention at this hotel and that’s why I was there in the first place so it made sense. My room was 59 degrees inside when I walked in. It was 63 outside mind you. I called the front desk and they said maintenance would come up. Nothing. Hour goes by. I asked again they said they’d call them again. Never offered another room and never checked on us after their. Maintenance never showed. The Wyndham rented a room at a peak price with a faulty thermostat! I decided a hot shower would help warm me up. The faucet in the shower vibrated so badly I could see it shaking in the wall and the sound was so loud I was afraid it would wake someone up in another room. So I turned in the shower halfway down just to stop the vibration and finish my shower. Flash forward to breakfast at the restaurant downstairs When the server was genuinely nice and doing her best, there was only three tables in the entire restaurant and two servers. It was not busy. It was not hectic. It took 45 minutes for anyone to get their food and one plate came out at a time probably every 10 minutes. The food was mediocre at best. We got pancakes with no syrup or butter so we had to ask for those. We got eggs and potatoes without ketchup or hot sauce or any kind of condiments and we had to ask for that. Then the bill came and we were charged for an omelette we didn’t order even though she told us to keep it, but we were charged more for what we actually had ordered but didn’t receive and when we questioned it, she got salty with us so we said, forget it and just paid it. I will absolutely never go back to this place. I hope this review is good feedback for management not to get anyone in trouble because everyone was friendly for the most partbut to do better because the service was absolutely the worst experience of the entire weekend.
