Sleepless in Bakewell! No Hadfield, Holloway Or Any Rooms Above Them By CoOp Side..
Pros:

The location is convenient to shopping and a lovely park by River Wye.

Cons:

The incompetence and indifferent attitude of the staff including the GM even before we checked in. We received an email from the hotel "Paying for Your Room - The full cost of your reservation, including any extras, is payable in full on arrival. Payment must be made at reception using the chip-and-pin machine. We do not accept manual payments prior to arrival...." We mentioned to Eva who sent us this email that Booking.com had already charged us 387 GPD for 2 nights. She responded "We never ask for payment prior to arrival. Please treat this as spam and report through your email provider." We were traveling and received such an agonizing message from someone who should be more proactive by contacting booking.com and resolving the matter rather than presumptuously providing an answer like this. We contacted her again and never heard from her. We resolved the matter with Booking.com instead. Her lack of clear communication and motivation in showing empathy trickled down to the attitude of the receptionists. When we checked in and requested a quiet room, Shona assigned us the Hadfield Room on the alley side by the CoOp. She assured us that it was a quiet room and if not, we could let front desk know to change room. The night was horrendous. Glass bottles breaking into the garbage containers, carts rolling on metal platforms and doors slamming of the lorries...We brought the matter to the receptionist (who claimed to work there the longest) and she refused to change the room by excusing that the hotel was full and the housekeeper could not clean the room if changed. There was someone checking out before us. She said that Shona was too lazy to switch the room on that day of check in. And she should have. The price we paid didn't match the lowest standard of any hospitality establishments.

Generally excellent
Pros:

Excellent room which was clean, comfortable, quiet and air conditioned. Hotel location is brilliant and check in staff welcoming.

Cons:

Poor quality coffee from the restaurant in the morning, dirty and cracked glasses, slow service. We decided to not stay for breakfast because of this.

A lovely boutique hotel, very high standard and a great place to reset on a visit to Bakewell 5/5
Pros:

Everything was so well appointed and clean, I could have believed it was brand new. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had aircon in the room which was perfect. The bar/restaurant is on site and handy for breakfast and a quick coffee recharge.

Cons:

Parking was a pain, Bakewell is not great anyway so not the fault of the hotel. It didn't help it was a particular busy weekend, I think it was carnival or something, but you are right in the centre so that worked out ok (after we found a parking space ;))

Pros:

The location and quality of the room was great, the rooms were spacious and comfortable with a good bathroom and shower.

Cons:

there was a small balcony to sit out on but unfortunately the condition of the furniture wasn't good, they were covered in pigeon poo and there was a nest under one of the seats.
We had a little bit of rain and the balcony didn't drain of well so puddled which again didn't make for a comfortable moment
