Location close to University. Breakfast was great.
Was not very great
Not very helpful
A mainstay in Reykjavik, central and classy
The hotel is between owners and the restaurant was closed. We wish them the very best under new management because this is a lovely hotel with a real sense of tradition that we are very fond of.
Classic hotel, excellent staff, very comfortable room.
There is a very noisy bar next door and our room in the back of the hotel was very noisy from 10pm to midnight the day we arrived (we only stayed one night).
Great location
Noise from bars at night
Very good location ; friendly staff
No remarks , all ok
Not much! This hotel is the middle of being sold. No bar, no breakfast, no room service, no mini bar and cleaning your room was optional!
At the price they were charging was extortionate when no facilities…

Great location
I had a very bad experience at this hotel. During my stay, my jewelry bag containing several valuable items disappeared. It included three pairs of gold earrings and a very valuable pearl necklace. This was extremely distressing, as these items had significant financial and sentimental value. I was deeply disappointed by how this situation affected my stay. I encourage future guests to keep their valuables secure and to be cautious.
Lo stile art decò, la centralità , l’organizzazione. La cortesia del personale
Abbastanza caro, ma tutto in Islanda lo è!!
We stayed here following a Viking cruise. The hotel is elegant, reflective of a golden era. The hotel staff was so very friendly and helpful during our stay, couldn't ask for more from them. Hopefully the hotel will consider opening their restaurant in the future to provide a complete destination experience. BTW, the included buffet breakfast was most impressive and delicious. Can't beat the location for walking around the center of Reykjavik. Plenty of shops, restaurants, drinking establishments, etc. within easy 5-15 minute walk.
Hotel Borg is a lovely hotel with a great location. The service was excellent and the rooms were clean and nicely decorated.
As others have noted, the hotel is in an excellent location near main shopping areas and the harbor area, as well as restaurants and bars.
The hotel is clean and appears to be well maintained, although originally built in the 1930’s.
The staff was friendly and offered restaurant options as the hotel’s restaurant/bar was closed during our stay (temporary or permanent?) except for breakfast. Not a big deal for us as it provided the opportunity visit a couple of the many near by restaurants/bars.
Our room was small by current standards and lacked storage space, especially for 2 people. The coffee maker and one bed side lamp did not work which was not a big deal due to our short stay.
Also there were limited electrical outlets. I climbed under the desk to locate 2 power strips (already powering TV, coffee maker, lamp, etc.) so I could connect phone/iPad chargers.
Of greater concern were the potentially unsafe conditions in the bathroom, especially for people with mobility issues or the elderly:
-I have never seen such a small sink in a hotel bathroom. It was impossible to use without splashing water on the tile floor creating a slipping hazard. Placing the bath mat under the sink helped to minimize the problem
-The combo tub/shower was a bigger issue. The side of the tub was ~5 inches above my knee (~25 inches above the floor), and there were no grab bars or handholds making it difficult to climb in the tub. (As a point of reference the side of a typical household tub is ~ 15 inches above the floor). Once in the tub taking a shower was also a challenge as there were no grab bars/handholds, and no anti slip protection on the floor of the tub. One had to be very careful to avoid slipping and falling in the narrow tub. Then getting out of the wet tub without the benefit of handholds was potentially dangerous. My wife elected to pass on the shower during our short stay due to the tub hazzards.
