Great
EVERYTHING
Nothing it was all a good experience
The room was spacious and clean. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was full of variety. Great place to stay outside of the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough to get there in a short amount of time. Central to shopping and restaurants.
As I was looking for a hotel in Boston area, I saw that most hotels in or near downtown Boston and Cambridge were very expensive. Then, I found this Holiday Inn Express located in Waltham, that was about 30 minutes away by car from downtown Boston. There were some other hotels nearby, but I chose this one because it was offering a point booster for my Chase credit card points.
I had no problem to visit downtown Boston, Cambridge, and surrounding areas from the hotel. The distance was not too bad by car because it was Sunday when I visited Boston (Commons, Seaport, Northend, etc.). But it could get worse if it were weekdays.
The room itself was very clean and designed nicely. I booked two rooms for 2 nights - one with 2 queen beds and the other with a king bed. The room sizes were normal or slightly bigger than other hotel rooms. Each room was equipped with a mini refrigerator.
Breakfast was okay and just same as any other family hotels. The area was clean and nice.
I was staying in the king room that was located at the end of the first floor by the side doors. Everything was good except the door slamming noise. Every time someone was going out or coming in, the doors were closing with big noise. That noise surprised me several times while sleeping.
The worst part happened on the second night. While I was sleeping, there was big noise from the hallways. It sounded like some people were yelling and fighting. It was 4am, and I was too tired to even call the front desk. It subsided after about 30 minutes.
I later figured out that the guests in the next room to mine were fighting against each other and the police came to arrest them. It was not the hotel's fault, but I felt like they could have dealt with it more quickly and efficiently. I don't know if there was any security guard on site. I was so scared and puzzled in the middle of the night. The staff did not compensate me for anything about what happened. She just said "Sorry."
Although it was not directly the hotel's fault, I wish there could be something for me because that fight ruined my sleep and negatively influenced my traveling on the day I checked out. I had such a hard time driving up to Maine on that day because I was not able to sleep well due to the fight and the door slamming noise.
One thing I want to point out is the bathroom design. Although it looked very modern and nice, the towel hanger's location might be dangerous to short people. They might get hurt by it. I am 6' 2" tall and my shoulder bumped there several times since it was right by the bathroom sliding door.
The staff was nice to provide me bar soaps when I requested them.
Overall, it is a nice hotel in a good location to visit Boston and the surrounding areas. But it may need some improvements, especially the slamming side doors.
First was the warm welcome by the staff at check-in. Everyone looked professional, and the breakfast was not bad either. Room was clean and in perfect order. Overall an excellent experience.

The location, delicious breakfast and cost effective rooms.
Ants. And a gentleman in tbe breakfast area has a short temper.
The staff was very friendly and the Breakfast was exceptional.
The room was smaller than expected. There was no chair in the room to sit in. The outlets were weak, it took a long time to charge my phone.
Love the hotel, especially the breakfast! The location was great, as there are good restaurants as near as across the street. And accessibility to the highway was also a plus.
Loved the breakfast and the nearness to good restaurants. The location right off Rte. 95 was also great
