It was ok.
Pros:

I liked the location and the fact that it was 5 minutes away from various attractions I wanted to visit.

Cons:

My room needed improvements, specifically the bathroom. The floor of the tub was chipped and rusted so I showered with a towel on the floor of the tub. The shower curtain was ripped and hanging from a few curtain loops. The elevators were a bit iffy and seemed as though they needed maintenance. The view of the pool is awkward and unappealing.

Pros:

Harley J, Grove Restaurant & Bar, is the friendliest, absolute best and most helpful server/employee I have had the pleasure of waiting on me and my friends since I have been coming to the Doubletree in the last 7 years. She is definitely an asset to the hotel.

DoubleTree by Hilton in Chattanooga is just another motel
Pros:

First of all, I really wanted to leave after my stay and be able to give DoubleTree in Chattanooga a 4 to 5 star rating, that unfortunately cannot happen.

I reserved a room for my wife and my 30th anniversary. I chose a King suite with whirlpool tub. Figured we could chill and relax and soak our older bones in a nice tub with jets. We would also have a couple days to chill comfortably in a place that has a sitting area with comfortable seating. Maybe take advantage of some room service, just unwind and enjoy. I chose a Hilton property for a reason.

Then check in happened.

I was waiting for my digital key to load on their Hilton Honors app, but 10 minutes after 4pm it hadn’t loaded. I went to the front desk to check in then. And that is when it all began.

There were no suites available, even though I had reserved the suite, so they would do me a favor and downgrade my reservation. DOWNGRADE. They first gentleman was also going to do me a favor and not charge me the suite rate. Yes, you read that right. He wasn’t going to charge me for the suite rate after they downgraded me. Thank you so much for that.

Then the manager come to the desk. He was generous enough to comp both nights, parking and breakfast. So my stay was free. This tells me that the excuse of a 5th floor water leak that wrecked floors all the way to the 12th floor was probably not the most honest of excuses. And considering that my room was directly across from the suite I had reserved, didn’t make the excuse sound much better.

Ok, they tried to make their error right. I do appreciate that, but with the room I got, became very little consolation.

Check into the room. The AC is set for 74 and you are suppose to be able to adjust the temp. If you lowered the temp, a couple minutes later it resets to 74. Then instead of the view of the city I had selected, we got a view of the main road leading into Chattanooga, not even worth opening the shades for. The wifi was very spotty, but I was finally able to make that work.

So we decided to move on to room service. No menu, no cards in the room to assist. Nothing. So I called the front desk and inquired about room service and maybe a menu. I don’t know that they have room service here, I didn’t really get an answer other than some properties have them others don’t but they would provide me a menu. The menu they finally provided was their alcohol list. No food, just a list of cocktails, beers, wine and bourbon. So Door Dash it had to be.

They did give us a room with a small tub. Nothing an adult could sit and relax in and ease the muscles. Just a small tub. I wouldn’t step in that thing. There was blood or rust or something right near the drain, rather disgusting looking. I wasn’t touching it.

This place in no better than a motel in the shady part of Chattanooga. But the difference is, when I reserved a motel with a hot tub, I got a motel room with a hot tub. So actually a motel stay was better than a Hilton stay. Go figure.

So about 10pm the first night, we decided the stay was long enough. We hadn’t even really unpacked, just a few small items. Everything went back into the suitcase and we proceeded to check out.

This wasn’t written directly after we left. I actually went home, got a nights rest, thought about it, and decided I really need to post.

All in all, I give this place a 1 only because I can’t go lower.

Ok if just need a place for sleep
Pros:

Convenient property. Outside self parking $25. Nice room with Walmart water. If not Hilton member, $3.00. Shower did not have a little shelf to place razor, face wash, etc. Pool was relaxing however only 4 loungers and they are on resort pass so keep in mind in case some purchase that for the pool. Several relaxing chairs.
Breakfast good and if gold member or above, credit. It was good but egg whites tasted fake. A step above from typical free hotel breakfast.
What got me to knock down the rating is overall cheapness attitude of hotel. If I wanted to check in early before 4PM, $25. If I want late checkout after 11AM, $50. The hotel did not seem full but trying to make money any way they can. If you need a place to sleep arriving after 4 and leaving before 11, go for it. Just be aware if you would like a little extra time.

Great front desk employees
Pros:

We were at the Doubletree for a softball tournament for 3+ nights and days. Your hotel/parking lot was under construction. Harley was so helpful and kind and professional.

Also Maddox went out of his way when housekeeping had failed us two days straight and not brought towels/taken out trash and I called upset, he personally brought everything we needed to the room!

Excellent stay during the World Cup
Pros:

My wife and I had a really nice stay at this Doubletree for four nights in early July. The location is great. It has easy walking distance to a movie theater, the river walk (which is beautiful, especially if you like fireflies), ice cream places, the aquarium (which is dope, btw), etc. The hotel itself is fantastic. I love how open and inviting the lobby is, with a nice looking pool outside. The staff was extremely helpful anytime we had questions. I was really impressed with the breakfast in the restaurant. There are several really nice conference rooms. The whole place looks recently updated and everything looks super modern and attractive. I mean, the cookies are amazing too. That's honestly reason enough to stay at a Doubletree if you need a tie breaker between two hotels in the area! And this is the nicest Doubletree I've ever stayed at, no question.

Exceptional Servive
Pros:

I am writing to recognize and express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional customer service provided by the DoubleTree Staff (specifically “Cait”) during our recent stay. Cait’s professionalism, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond made a significant difference for both of us.

My wife’s surgery concluded much earlier than expected. Although we had a reservation at the DoubleTree Hotel, our room was not scheduled to be available until 4:00 p.m. Recognizing our situation, Cait took the initiative to explain our options, helped us secure a room that was available much earlier, and even assisted us with updating our electronic room key to ensure everything went smoothly.

What impressed us most was not simply that Cait solved a logistical problem, but the genuine care, empathy, and sense of ownership she demonstrated throughout the process. She treated us with kindness, patience, and respect at a time when those qualities meant more than words can express. Instead of simply pointing us in the right direction, she personally ensured that our needs were met.

In today’s world, outstanding customer service is increasingly rare, and employees like Cait deserve to be recognized. Her actions reflected exceptionally well on the DoubleTree organization and reinforced our confidence that the staff truly cares about the people they serve.

Please extend our heartfelt thanks to Cait and recognize her for the outstanding service she provided. Employees who consistently demonstrate such professionalism, initiative, and compassion are tremendous assets to any organization.

We are deeply grateful for everything Cait and the DoubleTree did to make a difficult day much easier for our family.

Stay was okay, would like it better if renovations were completed
Pros:

The few renovations that were completed were good. Love the cookies!

Cons:

Too many renovations that were not disclosed and no where to park due to the storage containers in the parking lot. Work out room closed and that was not told ahead of time

Passing thru
Pros:

Hotel is great. My grandson loved the outdoor pool. We had to park in the parking garage behind the hotel; saved some money on that. We ordered food from The Grove. It was ok. They ran out of pizza, the fries were soggy.
Overall it was a great stay.
