Kauai Shores Hotel

Perfectly located on the beach with great food and kind staff.

We stayed in room 139. The room was clean and the staff was excellent. The location is perfect. The restaurant has great food and a wonderful staff. I enjoyed the merchants in the lobby on Saturday night. I loved the jewelry and items they sold. It was reasonable and of high quality. I went with my family for my 47th birthday and I can’t wait to come back next year. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Our family stayed at this hotel. It was a fantastic stay. It is an older facility but beautifully maintained. The rooms are clean, bathrooms updated, staff exceptional. The restaurant food delicious. The grounds are so Beautiful. So much for couples and families to do.

The Kauai Shores Hotel is a good value for the money. Great location on the Eastern side of the island. About 35 minutes to the North Shore (to the Waipa Shuttle stop for Kaena State Park) and 25 minutes to the South Shore. Kapaa is a cute town, and the hotel is next to the Coconut Marketplace (tons of shops and restaurants, as well as a grocery store with hot food for all meals). The hotel has around 10-12 bikes that guests can use for free (easy check-out/check-in), and the bike trail is right at the hotel. Super easy and worth spending an hour or half day taking the bikes and riding along the beach. The beach at the hotel is swimmable but there are small waves so it's not a calm beach where you can just float (like in the Caribbean). For those who like to snorkel, it's not water where you can snorkel. More body surfing and surfing.

There are two pools and one hot tub. The hot tub is actually very good size and does get hot. One thing - there are hot tub rules posted but not strictly enforced. It was fine but there were children in the hot tub without direct parent supervision. Kids under 8 were not supposed to be in the hot tub at all but they always were, as well as kids 12 and under without parents. They were well-behaved and it's a family hotel, but once in a while it would be nice if it wasn't so crowded with kids. The pools are small (one in the back of the hotel is very small) but clean, and didn't have an issue finding lounge chairs which is always nice.

Some things the hotel can improve:
- the AC in the room didn't work great (the "auto" function didn't work so it was always on and didn't turn off at the desired temperature in the room). While it is good that the AC worked, it did freeze us out at night or had to get up and turn it off for a bit and then turn it back on.
- yes, it's a tropical environment but there were some roaches in the bathroom. Thankfully, I didn't see it until our last night.
- the "garden" room upgrade through Costco travel. Our room saw maybe a tree but our main view was the hotel laundry area. Again, for the price, we didn't say anything and stayed in our room. Note, the "standard" rooms near the parking lot probably had a view of another hotel or the street/parking lot.
- the laundry room (where the microwave is) in the Lei building is a bit of a mess and not regularly cleaned. Great that there's a microwave in there and washer/dryer but it needs to be cleaned daily.

Overall, it's a nice hotel for the price point. The grounds are beautiful, particularly the variety of flowers and plants. Only 10 minutes from the airport. The staff at the front desk are helpful and friendly. Lava Lava Beach Club (restaurant) is right on the beach with TVs (the NBA play-offs were on and it was nice to sit at the bar with a drink watching the game, with the ocean behind us!). Yes, it's a little pricey but all Kauai restaurants (particularly more touristy ones) were pricey. Note - Tony's Catch food truck is a couple of miles north and had the best poke bowl of all time at a reasonable price.

Picked location based on its proximity to beach and local areas. Followed them on instagram and scored a great price thanks for a Black Friday sale. Pros- free valet, rooms are new and clean and all of the staff were genuinely kind and helpful. The only con was the lack of beach chairs- but honestly we didn’t have a problem finding a spot on the 2-3 times we went. Highly recommend for all types of guests, grounds were very clean and well maintained. But the biggest takeaway was the kindness and professionalism of all of the staff members

This place is a gem and the perfect place to stay for 3 nights. The property is beautiful and well maintained and the rooms are big and clean. The staff was so nice and welcoming. Laundry facilities were right on site and affordable. The bikes for use were an awesome bonus. We used them twice during our stay to ride up and down along the coast with the trail right next door to the hotel. The location was convenient to go north or south on the island. It was bliss to be able to wake up and go sit by the ocean to watch the sunrise. We are a couple but seemed like a nice place to bring a family with the pool and hot tub. I would stay here again!

We actually had a room booked down the road at a different hotel and upon arriving there with our toddler after traveling all day, we found out they made a mistake and gave our room to someone else. We were quite stressed as our toddler was exhausted and crying. Thankfully Kauai Shores had a room for us last minute. We were so impressed by our stay! The service was wonderful, room and grounds were so clean, the restaurant on the beach was fantastic! The beach was quiet and peaceful. What started out as a stressful thing ended up being a wonderful stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Great budget friendly hotel, clean rooms, we enjoyed the resort amenities including valet service. The staff was very friendly, beachfront and in the center of most of the places we visited.

We returned to Kauai in May to celebrate my retirement and stayed once again with Kauai Shores. The online reservation process is very simple. Upon arriving on Kauai I received a text from Kauai Shores welcoming us and letting us know that they were expecting us. The check in was a breeze and the front desk surprised me with a delicious gift to celebrate my retirement! The hotel grounds are lovely with all the tropical flowers. Our ocean view room was so clean and quiet. Kauai Shores is centrally located on the island, providing easy access to restaurants, shopping, and traveling to other parts of the island. I will always recommend Kauai Shores to anyone planning a vacation to Kauai. I hope to return again one day!!!!

This hotel was so amazing from the very start with the booking process all the way to the end. The location is prime with awesome and fairly priced food just a few minutes walk away. The staff absolutely encompass the aloha spirit. Being born and raised on O'ahu and knowing the prices for the level of quality from this resort, I was expecting it to be way more pricey but it was a steal and even during a holiday weekend! The amenities are great; free bikes to ride on a nice trail from the hotel, pool and jacuzzi open late, an outdoor fire pit, corn hole and outside games, free photo booth, and more! There is a cute little general store in the lobby that has everything you'd need, and yummy Lappert's brand ice cream. My family and I really had the best time, and this is now our absolutely favorite hotel out of all we've stayed at. Mahalo nunui, Kauai Shores Hotel! 10/10 would stay again 🤙🏽
