The staff and Location
We had to call Housekeeping every day to service our room and our sheets were never changed . We stayed 4 nights!
Great location near the Ferry wharf and in the middle of Double Bay shopping area. Beauiful scenery. Room was large with balcony and great facilities in the bathroom.
It was our wedding anniversary and we were given a glass pf Bubbly and a lovely desert was delivered to our room.

Found a cockroach in the room, housekeeping contacted and took after 20 minutes to turn up. Ended up dealing with it myself.
The rooms are consistently lovely and spacious, with very well-appointed bathrooms. The location is excellent, making it easy to access nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions in Double Bay. What really stood out, however, was the staff. They were courteous, friendly, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. In particular, the concierge was outstanding—she went above and beyond to suggest places for us to visit and made our experience in Sydney even more enjoyable. Overall, the people aspect of the stay was excellent.
Unfortunately, the general upkeep and cleanliness of the property fell well below expectations. The hallways, stairwells, and main foyer appeared dusty and dirty, as though they hadn’t been properly vacuumed or maintained. In the room itself, housekeeping was inconsistent—coffee pods were not replenished, an empty tissue box was replaced but the old one was left behind, and one of the bathroom towels had a large hole in it.
When we raised these concerns at checkout, staff acknowledged the issues and explained that cleaning is handled by rotating contract teams, which makes quality control challenging. We were also informed that the property is due to be sold and demolished within the next 12 months, which may explain the lack of attention to maintenance. While this provides some context, it doesn’t excuse the standard of cleanliness and upkeep experienced during our stay.
the room needed a substantive clean. there was a lot of dust on surfaces such as table legs/bases etc. the side table in the bedroom had marks form previous users. the balcony need a really good clean - there were weeds growing through the tiles.
The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Super location and quite. However a little overpriced. The Location in the heart of Double Bay is perfect.
We had a drink in the bar after dinner and it was probably one of the worse hotel bars I have ever been to. So disappointing. It used to be fabulous.
