A Wonderful return to The Hotel Santa Fe & Hacienda!
It was very unfortunate that Hotel Santa Fe experienced a fire in the main hotel building a couple of months ago. Thankfully, The Hacienda was not affected and remains open and available for guests while renovations to the hotel are underway, with completion expected in November 2026.
My connection to this wonderful property goes all the way back to 1991, the year Hotel Santa Fe opened. I stayed there for a girls’ weekend, and we had the best time ever! At that time, The Hacienda was part of the hotel rather than the separate, more private experience it is today. Returning after all these years brought back some wonderful memories—and I was delighted to find that the special level of hospitality I remembered is still very much alive.
The Hacienda continues to offer its exceptional butler service, as well as complimentary chauffeur/shuttle service to destinations within approximately a mile of the hotel. That service made it so easy for us to enjoy Santa Fe without worrying about driving or parking.
Our stay also included a lovely continental breakfast each morning and a wonderful happy hour with hors d’oeuvres, wine, and beer. And then there are those little touches that make a stay memorable—Lindt chocolates in the evening and even hot chocolate.
But what truly makes The Hacienda special is the staff. They are superb! Their warmth, attentiveness, knowledge of Santa Fe, and genuine desire to make your stay enjoyable really set this property apart.
After first visiting in 1991, it was wonderful to return and discover that The Hacienda still offers the personal service and hospitality that made such an impression on me all those years ago.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already looking forward to returning in 2027!
We chose Hotel Santa Fe as it is close to the Santa Fe Plaza where the Spanish Market was being held. The room was spacious; breakfast was on the 6th level - basic items such as oatmeal, pastry, bagels. We greatly appreciated having a van that would take us to the Plaza (not a far walk) and then take us back later given that one of us needed assistance. My only complaint is that the hotel was having some construction - would have liked them to notify us when we made the reservation.
We loved our stay here and were happy to support this Indigenous owned and managed hotel. We stayed in the Hacienda which was lovely. The Service was great. Good continental breakfast, but lovely happy hour and delicious cookies in the room. The staff was terrific. We also loved being 15 minutes from the Square in an area that was new to us. The free shuttle to all downtown sites was a great bonus.
This hotel is exceptionally clean and beautiful. Its aesthetic perfectly captures the essence of what attracts people to Santa Fe. I've stayed here twice and wished I could have extended my visits!
During our second visit, the hotel lobby was being renovated. It caused a slight inconvenience, but we are looking forward to seeing the results of the remodel.
Caught up with my good mate for the first time since 2019 with Covid & snowstorms getting into the act previously! He chose the Hotel Santa Fe and its restaurant, and we lobbed during 'Happy Hour'., luckily for the wallet. The meals were great and only $15 a plate plus well priced drinks. The staff were all attentive & super friendly and we had a good meal & chat, catching up on the latest news. My buddy is a vegetarian, and he always gets me to sample! It was good but give the man red meat I say. The Hotel is centrally located so we went for a stroll through the Plaza after our meal.
We spent 3 nights here and overall there were positives and negatives for us. First the positives:
The staff were very welcoming and friendly;
The bed was comfortable and the shower was decent (both essential for us in a hotel);
There was a shuttle bus service which was really useful and very much appreciated;
The mini toiletries provided were very nice;
There were robes and slippers which were also appreciated;
The happy hour was a nice touch.
The negatives:
The hotel had experienced a fire in the week leading up to our visit and we were not notified of this, consequently, there was no restaurant as the main hotel was closed, with only the hacienda part operating. Disappointingly, we were not notified of this before we arrived and had we known, we may have booked elsewhere;
The breakfast was ok, very average and not a lot of choice. It was the same every morning;
The location was slightly further out of downtown than we thought, perhaps our fault;
The hot tub was also out of action during our visit;
Water was only provided in the room once during our stay, would have expected more than that;
Due to very limited rooms and communal space, the whole place was lacking in atmosphere somewhat;
The hotel is tired, the furnishings etc could use an update. This is a hotel which needs some money spending on it. Hopefully, the renovation will do this and improve things for the future.
Overall, our stay was ok, but we would choose elsewhere if in Santa Fe again.
We have stayed in Santa Fe several times always opting for a higher end hotel, and it was our first time at the hotel Santa Fe. Actually found this hotel more affordable, better accommodations with a balcony and a great view and perfect, friendly personnel, even though they were going under a renovation everything was great
They lie to you

Wonderful staff, breakfast and location.
It caught on fire was not notified till day was suppose to arrive
see above
We arrived late and opted to eat at Amaya instead of going into town. Our meals were delicious and beautifully plated.
Unfortunately, there was an electrical fire at 5 am
We were evacuated and placed temporarily in another building on the property where coffee and fruit were served. We were allowed back in our rooms to pack and relocated to another beautiful hotel. The staff were helpful and kind.
Amazing place to stay! We had a fire occur during oir stay and had to be evacuated, but the staff totally stepped up. Big shout out to the night security guard who ran around banging on doors to tell us the alarm wasnt a drill.
Besides the fire? Would normally be a 10.
Location and the hotel is beautiful
Nothing I love the place
