It’s a beautiful hotel. The staff was great and the location is perfect. The only downside is the parking expense.

Make sure your air condition works!!
Pros:

I would like some kind of discount because the air condition in our room was not working. Called front desk several times and never came to check it. Slept in a room that was 78 degrees.

Cons:

The heat in the room was horrible.

The only thing good about this hotel is the history and it’s location.

Cons:

Front desk was rude, our 4:00 check in didn’t happen until 6:30. The water turned hot and cold constantly in shower, the toilet did not flush properly. The air conditioning was minimal and did not go cooler than 77 degrees no matter how low you set it. The room and bed were very very small. No security at doors and no security in elevators or to get into the pool area with quite a few undesirables around. Room and hallways smelled of mildew. The bar had no aircon and was uncomfortably hot.

Very hot. The excuse was that it was a historic building. I’ve stayed at many historic hotels and never had this issue.
Pros:

Very pretty building, but the air conditioner would not cool the room. It was 80 degrees the whole night. They ran out of fans as well to provide.

Cons:

Air conditioning was bad.

Disappointed
Pros:

Liked the history of the merger, it is a beautiful property. I hated to see it going down hill.

Cons:

Your personal were not very nice, they acted like they were doing me a great favor by checking me in and out. Asked and paid for a balcony room, got a porch room. The toilet in the room had not been cleaned at the base, had urine on it. We stayed there 2 times before and really enjoyed are stay, but this stay was really disappointing. Hope you can return it to its former glory.

The elevator at our end of the building didn't work so we had to cancel our stay there it was so far to take our luggage using the other elevator at the opposite end of the huge hotel.

The young lady at the front seat was nasty.
She was miserable and rude from the beginning .

She was nasty and short circuited with everyone .

Disappointment!!!

Location, the history.

Cons:

This hotel has been deteriorating for some time. The AC has had problems for years. Now, many rooms dont cool. The history of this hotel cant support the lack of maintenance and discomfort when staying here. Its sad to see this historic hotel goto shiet. My children loved staying here. My family is disappointed with the lack of attention given by the management. I will never stay here again and I will talk others from staying here too. I used to recommend this place. That's not happening no more. Please listen to this. Don't let being cheap fog your vision.

Pros:

I booked online not aware of it being footsteps from the Alamo. Beautiful at night centrally located and a wonderful stay.

Cons:

Its a very old hotel, so its going to have some issues that are common with old things. Lower water pressure is one of them.
