Staff did a great job handling a situation where folks were smoking on the floor and had a pet barking on a no pet allowed floor. They moved us to a different floor the next day.
Property is dated, with some rooms that need desperate upgrades. Pictures online are not accurate. Staff at the breakfast buffet were rude, but also clearly needed more assistance.
Was very close to many restaurants and a gym.
The whole hotel including our room reeked of cigarette smoke. It must have been a smoking allowed hotel at some point. The toilet wouldn't flush and the room was "tired".
The service and staff were fantastic.
There was no hot water in the morning, beds are old and lumpy, carpet is old and stained in the room I had.
The restaurant is amazing! I recommend the mango cheesecake.
Easy check in, friendly staff, and comfy beds you won't want to get out of :) Sawridge Inn is one of my top 3 picks when I come to edmonton.
Its on a one way, so it can be a bit of a wait to cross into the parking lot if its rush hour. Lots of parking when you get in there
Early check in
There was no outside windows and hot water to take a shower.
Good location.
No hot water in morning. Boiler was down. Couldn’t have a shower. They didn’t apologize or give a discount for this. Not acceptable.
Beautiful hotel
The entry to the parking lot
Location was great, price reasonable.
Rooms need updating. No hot water the next morning, was told maintenance was taking care of it but there still wasn’t hot water upon check out. I feel front desk should’ve given a free breakfast voucher for the in hotel restaurant in lieu of having no hot water.
Very clean and inviting
You need better pillows!
Clean nice. Shuttle to airport . Linens nice. Towels fluffy. Bed comfy. Quiet
It was all good
The lobby and entrances very nice
The rooms were ruff and in need of some upgrades to say the least
I recently stayed at the Sawridge Inn & Conference Centre in Edmonton, and I came away with mixed feelings. This is not intended to be a negative review but rather constructive feedback that I hope the owners will consider.
The positives first: the hotel was clean, and my room was very spacious, which I appreciated. The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and other amenities just minutes away, making it a very convenient place to stay.
That said, the property is in dire need of renovation. The overall atmosphere feels more like a retirement residence than a modern hotel. While it may have been impressive years ago, it now looks dated and would benefit greatly from a complete refresh.
The guest room, especially the bathroom, needs urgent attention. The bathtub had visible cracks along the sides, and the tub floor was extremely slippery. There was no bath mat provided, which is a safety concern. The toilet seat was also unusually low, making it less comfortable to use.
In the bedroom, the built-in power outlets in the bedside lamps were so loose that charging plugs would not stay connected properly. The furniture throughout the room is showing its age, and fresh paint along with updated furnishings would make a significant difference to the overall experience.
The lobby also leaves room for improvement. It is quite small, with a tiny reception area, and feels dark because there is very little natural light. A brighter, more welcoming entrance would create a much better first impression for guests.
One area that surprised me was the front desk service. I asked the receptionist for advice on the best way to get to the Edmonton Heritage Festival since many roads were closed. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to offer any guidance and simply suggested that I Google it. Local knowledge and helpful recommendations are something guests often expect from hotel staff, especially during major city events.
Overall, I believe this hotel has great potential. Its cleanliness, spacious rooms, and excellent location are definite strengths. However, the aging facilities and lack of modernization hold it back from providing the experience that today’s travelers expect.
I hope the owners invest in renovating the property because, with some thoughtful upgrades and improved guest service, this hotel could once again become one of Edmonton’s standout places to stay.
