Austin Proper Hotel, a Member of Design Hotels

We had a wonderful experience at Austin Proper. The hotel is beautifully designed, incredibly comfortable, and perfectly located, but what really stood out was the service. The entire team was warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay memorable.

Every interaction felt thoughtful and personal, from the front desk to the guest relations team. Michael Rivas and the team went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of and had everything we needed. That level of hospitality is what separates a good hotel from a truly great one.

Austin Proper has the perfect mix of luxury, style, and genuine hospitality. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Austin.

I have both worked and stayed at many luxury hotels over the years, but Austin Proper really stood out to me. From the moment we arrived, the service felt genuinely warm and thoughtful. I was celebrating my birthday, and the front desk staff went above and beyond to make it feel special, which meant a lot and set the tone for the entire stay.

The design of the hotel is stunning. Everything feels modern and curated without being cold or overly trendy. The rooms and common spaces were immaculately clean, and I loved all of the greenery throughout the property. It creates a calm, relaxing atmosphere that makes you forget you are in the middle of downtown Austin.

That being said, the location is fantastic with beautiful river views and easy access to everything. The view from the rooftop pool was gorgeous (especially during sunset), the lounge chairs were very comfortable, and the service was friendly and attentive.

The food and drinks were another highlight. Every cocktail and meal we had was flavorful, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. Don't leave without trying La Piscina!

This is one of those hotels that feels special from start to finish. Stylish but welcoming, luxurious without trying too hard, and absolutely worth the stay. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Austin.

It's rare and special when a hotel can attain this level of luxury and execution and do it authentically and without any pretension. Every touch point, every detail was spot on, thoughtful and curated perfectly. We were particularly taken with the warmth and humanity of the entire staff — from the front desk, to the hosts at the Peacock, to our server Ivan, everyone was genuine, kind and warm. Make sure to get coffee in the front room in the morning and say hello to Evie. She was nothing short of a ray of sunshine. It's rare and special when a hotel can attain this level of luxury and execution and do it authentically and without any pretension.

Drinks at the bars were delicious, Goldie's was fun and the bartenders take great care of you. Peacocks food over delivered and the Peacock bar/Lobby bar is great.

The Amenities are fantastic as well. The gym is hands down the best hotel gym I have ever seen. Multiple free weight squat racks, multiple reformers, every machine you want in a gym, trap bar and deadlift mat...

The beds and pillows are so comfortable, the rooms are beautiful, modern and inviting and every detail is thought out- even the hairdryer is top of the line.

The stay was worth every penny. My wife and I have been on a high from the trip all week. Anis and the team were absolutely wonderful.

Ate dinner pool side in amazing cabana at la piscina our server Celal was amazing, then had drinks at Quill Room after, Dayana and Dodd treated us like rock stars! My son’s 25th birthday was absolutely incredible thanks to Giulio our amazing Host that greeted us promptly at the door! Cant wait to go back!

We had a great date night last weekend at the Austin Proper. Started with “the best fajitas in Austin” at La Piscina - thank you Celal! From there we connected with Giulio and, per his recommendation, we transitioned to the rooftop pool/deck for a live DJ set by Phil Ross under the Texas sky. The atmosphere was intimate and welcoming. I highly recommend the spicy margaritas. If you are looking for an upscale evening in Austin this is it.

I can’t say enough great things about the Proper Hotel in Austin. I frequent this place every weekend and they are hands down the best hotel in the city. The customer service, attention to detail and their terrific food and beverage offerings make it the best place to hang out on a weekend.

I want to give a special shout-out to Giulio and Israel as these two individuals are rockstars and always make my experience memorable each and every single week. They are the most patient and accommodating individuals in the game and if you are lucky enough to be looked after by them, you will know what I am talking about.

If you haven’t been to the Proper in Austin, stop what you are doing and go now! You can thank me later!

Had an excellent experience at the Austin proper, a favorite hotel of mine. Evie in Goldie’s is a pleasure and Giullo put on an amazing events throughout our time there. The sunset session was for sure a highlight! Can’t wait to be back (though I’m moving to Austin so maybe as a restaurant/bar patron as opposed to a hotel guest for the time being). Appreciate the hospitality and can’t wait to be back.

The atmosphere of this hotel and guest accommodations are excellent. The staff are top notch and provide a world class experience.

Just returned from a long weekend at Austin Proper. Our experience was exceptional from the moment we arrived. The upscale ambiance is very evident on entering the hotel - great design and decor. We arrived early for our reservation, but were offered an available room, with the caveat that it was a smaller pool-facing room and may be a bit small for a longer stay. We were offered a look at the room and yes, it was on the small side. We chose to dine at the restaurant adjacent to the pool while we waited for a larger room.
The food, drink, and service were excellent and we stopped out at the poolside bar for another drink. Great service and smiles there as well. The pool is shaded by an adjacent building until around 2:00 or so - worth noting. Great vibe at the pool.
We were headed to our room ahead of schedule. It was nicely appointed and had the most powerful shower of any hotel we've stayed in. Awesome! Bed was very comfortable and the room was plenty big enough for the two of us. Other than some occasional city noise, it was quiet and restful.
We also dined in the main restaurant for breakfast which was excellent as well.
The bar scene on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday was vibrant and obviously popular not only with hotel guests, but with young locals.
The location is perfect, with numerous restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. The area felt extremely safe even later in the evening.
We will definitely return when in Austin. All of the Austin hotels have additional fees, taxes, hospitality charges, etc. so I would expect that.

Always an amazing stay at Proper Austin. This was not our first stay, and most certainly won’t be our last. Every team member encountered was friendly and engaged. Room was comfortable and spotlessly cleaned and the turndown service friendly and prompt. Lobby bar was buzzing and there’s always just a great vibe at this hotel. Room service breakfast (avocado toast and coffee) was flawless and delivery time almost caught me off guard….only 15-20 minutes from ordering to delivery!
Muffins in the morning with complimentary coffee service in Goldie’s was a nice touch on our way out after check out.

Excellent hotel for a luxury stay. We stayed as a family of four as a treat half way though our Texas road trip. The hotel is ideally positioned to walk to shops, restaurants and most attractions. Valet service was efficient, the priciest though of all hotels we stayed at. Rooms were well equipped (Dyson hairdryer, clothes steamer, Aesop toiletries), beds extremely comfortable. We used the cocktail bar and Peacock bar for evening drinks. From Thursdays to Sundays these bars are very busy. Service good.

Had drinks in the lobby lounge, very aesthetic. Valet didn’t send me my ticket, but Christian got my car fast.

Great location. Efficient valet service even though it was Easter weekend when we arrived so extremely busy. Rooms clean, well equipped, lovely touch of Dyson hairdryer, Aesop toiletries and clothes steamer. Beds extremely comfortable.

This hotel is so perfect from the people, the decor, the food and the location. I will absolutely be staying here again the next time we are in Austin. Walk to see the bats, go eat at the food trucks on congress or even close enough to walk UT.
The service is truly incredible. From the manager to the spa, daily free offer and GF goodies.

Christian absolutely killed it and made me and my family really feel at home. Nothing but class from that kid and the definition of hospitality

This is the best place to stay in Austin. The pool service is top notch and the food is amazing. Giulio is always on top of of it.
