We had such an amazing experience at the Monterey Marriott! This ended up being a last-minute booking after realizing Monterey was much farther from our original hotel than expected, and it could not have worked out better.
The staff went above and beyond from the start—they graciously allowed both an early check-in and a late check-out for our one-night stay, which made a huge difference so our daughter could nap comfortably. That level of flexibility meant everything to us.
The service was outstanding across the board. The bellhop was incredibly kind and helpful, quickly bringing up a microwave along with extra pillows and blankets to make our room extra comfortable.
Fin + Field was just as impressive. They were so accommodating with dietary needs—easily handling a gluten allergy, bringing milk for our daughter, and even preparing a specific lunch request without hesitation. It truly felt like they cared about getting everything just right.
Overall, this stay exceeded our expectations in every way. The hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine care made it such a memorable experience—we would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it!
Entire place was beautiful and clean.
It was a long wait at breakfast buffet. It was crowded so I don’t blame the hotel.
Good location
Not worth the high cost at all. The rooms have a terrible design whereby the bathroom is not connected to the sink.
This place was fantastic! Clean, comfortable, helpful staff. Breakfast buffet had excellent choices and filled up both my teenage sons.
Easy to walk around downtown Monterey and the trail along the bay where we saw harbor seals, sea lions, lots of birds and sea otters.
Location was amazing, great amenities near, walking distance to the pier and mayor restaurants. Breakfast was great !
Overall customer service worth mentioning, Jean (breakfast assistant) and Lena (omelet station) - exceptional! Breakfast buffet one of the best for Marriott brands. Front desk staff helpful as well. Nice touch to have fresh popped popcorn and lemonade refreshments in the lobby in the evenings.
Housekeeping on the 5th floor in particular need attention - towels left in the hallways and not picked up in days. Hallways needed to be vacuumed. The rooms were updated despite the exterior of the hotel looking very distressed.
Management please train your staff that when DND is on the door that means do not come in the room. To our dismay, staff came in our room despite the sign.
Very pleased with our stay. Utilized titanium upgrade to an Executive Suite. Entered into the living room area- large screen tv, sofa, chairs, coffee table overlooking double balcony overlooking the bay. Wet bar, coffee station, refrigerator etc.
On opposite wall was another big screen TV, king bed, second exit to double balcony and floor to ceiling windows, doors with bay view.
Bathroom and closet areas were typical, maybe a bit larger than usual. Loved the hole in the glass shower wall to turn water on/off without getting soaked by cold water. Brilliant feature!
Buffet breakfast was very well done. Hot and cold offerings, omelette & made-your-way egg station was especially good. We ate all other meals elsewhere.
Special note about parking: valet parking at Marriott was $42/night. Thank you to others who recommended the Calle parking garage, which is 1 block away from the Marriott. We parked there for $8/day using the parking app. Only once we couldn’t get a spot in the garage, so we found a spot on the street 1.5 blocks away from the hotel and parked for free (1 hour free parking, and we arrived at 5 pm, parking fees ended at 6 pm, so we were good for the night.
Between the free breakfast buffet and parking garage, we saved hundreds of dollars on this stay, which was paid for via Bonvoy points and a Marriott gift card. Special thanks to Craig B at the front desk for helping me apply the gift card to the resort fee/taxes. Could not have asked for much more!
