Not a good experience. I called a few days ahead of our visit and requested a feather free room due to my friend having asthma. I also reminded them when the hotel texted me a day before my arrival. We arrived at the hotel about 7:00 pm and our room was NOT feather free. We waited over an hour for our room. Then there was an issue with ordering room service and couldn’t get anyone on the phone to ask. I made three trips to the front desk to straighten it out and still have not received the refund I was told I would get. Not sure I would stay there again.
Very disappointing stay, especially given the price. We had to move rooms three times because of odours, cleanliness concerns, and plumbing problems. Having to pack up our bags, and unpack so many times with three small children was really frustrating. Instead of enjoying our time on our summer vacation, we were left fighting with the front desk and seeking things to do away from the resort grounds due to our concerns with cleanliness and overall frustration. Our first room was extremely far from the resort amenities, faced the highway, had a large metal pipe with sharp ends outside of our patio door, and looked as though it had not been updated since the 1970s. The linens were stained and t there was a very musky odour in the room. Our second room was closer to the pool/restaurant, but the sewer backed up while we were using the shower and bathtub. The third room was the best of the three but still needed work, as everything was extremely dated. The pool area was also dirty, with hair clogging the drains. The property was nowhere near the standard we expected from an Omni resort, and we would not stay here or another Omni again.
it was a beautiful resort at a great value. The Customer Service from everyone was top-notch, no matter what part of the resort you were at. No matter what request we had, no one made us feel like we were a burden.
We have 3 kids 5,3 and 0. This was the best stay that we’ve had traveling and it’s all attributed to the small pool areas and food. My kids hated the pool BEFORE this trip, but they spent every day there. Going down the slide and walking in the 3 foot pool. The prices for food were incredible for summer and affordable to eat at the resort every day
Very poor check in experience marred an otherwise pleasant stay. This resort seems to have no way to prioritize early check in other than place the request, show up, then hope for the best. This has happened during our last two stays and both times we weren't able to check into the room until hours after we arrived on property. Omni is happy to remind you that regardless of your status early check in is never guaranteed. Neither is my return business.
We got married at the Omni this August. While it is a beautiful property, we were really disappointed with the service we received from both the front desk and management.
Overall the campus is nice, restaurant was great. When we got in our room wasn’t clean, there was dried old food on the bed. Napkins left on the table and weirdly an unplugged microwave on the ground by the door. They were slow to address these concerns. Overall nice place but I think overpriced for the quality of service
Bed bugs! We had been heavily bitten by bed bugs during our stay. This is a severe health and safety violation. I’m going to report this property to local health department.
The grounds and the pools were nice. We appreciated how many different options there were for the pools. The rooms were also nice but in the hallways there was a bit of a musty smell. They had flotation devices for little kids to use in the pools which was convenient. The location was beautiful, very nice views of the hills and cute shopping areas with food nearby (not walking distance but a short car ride),
We did however have a lot of issues with housekeeping that detracted from our experience. I called months in advance asking my room to be feather free due to allergies, upon my arrival there were feather pillows and blankets on the bed. I called housekeeping when I arrived to ask them to change the bedding, I then went out to the pool and went out for dinner. When I arrived back in the room later that night the bedding had still not been changed. I called housekeeping again, they said they would send someone. I said I needed it urgently because it was past my 2 year olds bedtime and I had been waiting all day. I waited a half hour and nobody came so I ended up changing the bedding myself using the blanket in the closet. My husband also called asking for a new fridge because ours was not working very well, that was never delivered. On the last full day of our visit I called asking for a sharps container for a syringe. Someone came to our room and delivered a blanket and I asked where was the sharps container and he said he didn’t know what I was talking about and then left. Overall the housekeeping service was poor, I never experienced in any hotel this many issues.
We had such a wonderful family staycation at the Omni! The property and grounds are absolutely gorgeous, clean, and beautifully maintained. From the moment we arrived, we felt very well taken care of.
A special shoutout to Jayden at Valet, who was amazing. So poised, calm, friendly, and helpful. The 24/7 golf cart service around the property is also a great touch and makes getting around incredibly convenient.
There is so much for families to enjoy. The kids were able to eat free, and we spent time playing pickleball and relaxing at the pool. I highly recommend breakfast at The Vue and reserving a cabana at the pool, both were highlights of our stay.
While it was perfect for our family staycation, I would also highly recommend this property for a couple's getaway as well. I have visited the spa before and it is amazing, and the adults-only pool is a great option when you are looking for a more relaxing experience.
The location is another huge plus. You get the beautiful resort atmosphere while still being very close to the beach, so it really feels like a true Southern California getaway without having to travel far.
Overall, this property offers the best of both worlds, great for families, but equally perfect for a relaxing couple's getaway. Beautiful grounds, great amenities, wonderful service, and plenty to do. Also, if would be a top on my list for a business or wedding event!
The grounds on the hotel are absolutely beautiful! The room felt very clean, was incredibly spacious, and the layout/furnishings of both the room and bathroom were updated and felt luxurious. The mattresses were comfortable and not in need of rotating, unlike many hotels. The only downside was we stayed on the 3rd floor so our kids fought over who would press the elevator button. The restaurants were good, but pricey like most on-site resort restaurants. The Vue breakfast was delicious and our kids enjoyed the special kids buffet. I mean what kid doesn't enjoy pancakes with chocolate sauce, freshly made whipped cream, and sprinkles?! With 3 kids, the grab-n-go marketplace was extremely convenient and we purchased food there on more than one occasion. On arrival, there could be a few more signs directing traffic to the lobby and self-parking lots, but we figured it out. The spa was the biggest highlight for me personally. It was exquisite and the luxe room was incredibly relaxing! It's a room that's dark and quiet and you can listen to a guided meditation or nature sounds in a huge vibrating chair. This is something every spa needs in my opinion (as a frequently overwhelmed and tired mom with 3 kids). The 80-minute massage I got was amazing! The pools, splash pad, and water slides were the highlight for our 3 kids. We didn't utilize the kids' club so I can't speak to that; however there is an on-site arcade as well as daily crafts, activities, and oversized chess and checkers sets on the lawn. The text and email to checkout and/or ask questions were useful and convenient. A staff member texted me back promptly when I had a question about our bill. This is a place we would certainly look forward to staying at again in the future.
Upon arrival the valet line was SO long and backed up. The valet wouldn’t let us get our luggage out and check it in at the front desk. The line to check in was also insanely long. They parked our car a very far distance and so when it was me time to check in they said the wait for a golf cart was too long and we could walk to get our luggage. We couldn’t even find our car. We finally had to track down a guy in a golf cart and pay him to take us to our car to get our luggage. Thankfully our other friend was watching our kids cause this whole ordeal with whining kids would have been even worse. He said this resort is always like this and they don’t have a good system for cars luggage and parking. The kids pool felt like a Disneyland resort. Apparently they sell local passes to residents to access the pools so the pools are wayyyy too crowded with non guests of the resort. There were no chairs in the shade. The water was too gross and foggy to want to swim. We finally moved to the garden pool and although there was no food anywhere near us we were at least able to order drinks and swim in a clean pool. The next day (Monday) we went back to the garden pool and waited for the bar to open so we could order drinks and finally called the front desk to learn it would not open because it was Monday. Even though the hotel was at full capacity. So we relocated all 8 of the kids we were with the crowded kids pool so we could order food and drinks. It’s was a miserable experience to be honest. Then trying to get our luggage to our car was another miserable experience. I heard a dad complaining to the valet that he waited 1.5 hours. On top of that. The market line was always long. The resort is very pretty and the rooms are nice but I lived in San Diego for 15 years and always do staycations in San Diego and this is the last resort I would ever return to in Ssn Diego. I’ve had so many better experiences. Actually. I’ve never had even close to such a bad experience as I did at this place.
This resort exceeded our expectations!! The grounds are stunning, beautiful property, great food, loved the snack bars by the pool!
Couldn’t fault anything
We stayed at Omni La Costa Resort for our annual family reunion, something we look forward to every year. While we enjoyed being together and there were some positive aspects of the resort, overall we were disappointed with the experience, especially considering the price.
For what the resort charges, we expected much better attention to detail and service. There is a $75 pet fee per stay, yet the room didn’t even have a simple plastic water bowl for the dog. Our room also had a lot of hair around, which was pretty unpleasant, and the bedsheets were ripped and had holes in them. At this price point, these are things you simply don’t expect.
One evening, we had reserved an outdoor table at the steakhouse. We had actually called the night before specifically to confirm that we could sit outside. No one mentioned that there would be an event taking place directly in front of the restaurant. Once the event started, the music was so loud that we couldn’t hear each other speak and eventually had to move inside. Some of the music also contained language that was completely inappropriate for children, which was especially disappointing at a family resort.
On our second night, there was a strange vibration or mechanical noise that continued throughout the entire night and made it extremely difficult to sleep.
The check-in experience was disappointing as well. A few days before arrival, the resort texted me asking what time we would be arriving, which gave the impression that they would try to have our room ready earlier. However, the room was not available until the regular check-in time, so I’m not sure what the purpose of asking for our arrival time was.
Overall, the resort feels overpriced for what is actually provided. The price seems to cover little beyond the room itself, while the level of cleanliness, amenities, communication, and attention to detail did not match what we expected from a resort in this price category.
We still enjoyed our family reunion because being together is what mattered most, but unfortunately, the resort itself did not live up to our expectations.
The property itself is beautiful and spacious, with nice grounds and plenty of areas for families to enjoy.

An amazing facility, the most amazing and kind and wonderful personnel, especially at the Bougainvillea room. But everyone, from the housekeeping to the executives are all pleasant, helpful, and it just makes for a great experience
We had no idea that this resort catered to kids. We requested a room away from the kids' pool, which they accommodated us. This building had a pool, but it was not an adult pool. Kids swam in it, but there was no bathroom at this pool. My husband & his mother walked to the adult pool by the Lobby, but there was no place for them to sit as it was crowded, so they came back. Our friends awoke to kid noise and went to bed with kid noise from the next room. They even let kids into Bob's Steakhouse. You can't escape the noise from kids! We love kids, but we like a resort that caters to both, kids and adults, not just kids! The staff was great & the resort was nice, but we will not return.
Lovely resort, food was delicious, room was clean and spacious. Pool area was well kept, plenty of towels available. All of the staff are friendly and helpful.
