I should’ve read more reviews before booking. I was excited to stay here for a remote work week with my family due to the location. Due to the nature of my trip, I spent more time in the room than normal and wish I would’ve found a more comfortable, clean, and friendly place.
Pros - location, outdoor rocking chairs, bike/hike trail right in front of motel, in-room fridge bigger than typical mini fridges, consistent internet connection.
Cons - rude staff, dirty, light mold on bathroom ceiling, crud all over the floor I could feel with my bare feet, I saw a roach climb up into the toilet bowl, roaches around door on ground, dirty shower curtain, towels super thin, pool is not there - it is filled in and now a dog park that smells like urine when the wind blows sometimes, lack of outlets in room, hairdryer didn’t function at all (in fact the on/off switch didn’t even move correctly).
Also got yelled at for coming to breakfast at 9:45 am when it ends at 10 and they were already tearing down.
And arrived at 9:45 pm to check in. Door said night service was 11pm-7pm. But we had to use the night service area, the front desk woman seemed irritated we were checking in. We couldn’t hear here. And it made me not go and ask for a new hairdryer once we realized the room one didn’t function.
Stay at BW properties all the time. This one I won’t be returning to.
Location was perfect.
Clean room, comfortable beds .
Breakfast was Great and appreciated!
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. We'll be back
That we couldn't stay longer
Clean and b’fast
Fire alarm at 11:30
The location
outdated, old-fashioned, thin, rough towels
Wall air-conditioning
DO NOT stay at this hotel! The fire alarm went off while we were asleep and we woke up to the smell of smoke, we went outside to see if it was just our room but all other guest room fire alarms were also on. Another guest went to the office and was told it was a false alarm and the office turned it off. I tried to call the office to tell them we smelled smoke in our room but no answer. I could not sleep after that. I told them on check out that I had tried to call the office after they turned off the alarm to tell them about the smoke I smelled, and he just argued and said no you did not because I would have answered. He then said you smelled it but you did not see it so the smell could have come from anywhere. I also told him about the outlets by the sink not working and that I tried to push the GFCI reset button on it but it is stuck in and I could not, he replied no it's not and that I just needed to turn on the switch on the wall to make them work. The bath does not drain and you stand in your own water almost up to your knees. When I reported this his response was oh really, that's weird. I should have read reviews before I went.
Waffle machine was broken.
At 6:53 I went to get a cup of coffee and was turned away. I was told to come back at 7. Horrible customer service.
This hotel is a great value for staying in Townsend so close to Cades Cove and away from the hustle and bustle of pigeon forge and Gatlinburg. Cons were petty stuff. Missing outlet cover, toilet paper holder too close to the toilet so your elbow hits it, No vent that I could find in the bathroom just FYI and a sticking door that I had to hip shove when I came in.
Pros- The beds were absolutely outstanding. Not too firm not too soft just perfect. The room was clean. It had a small table and 2 chairs, there's a large wardrobe to hang your clothes in with an ironing board and an iron in it. There's also three very deep wide drawers in a dresser. The door of the dresser opens to find a micro fridge. Not the mini fridge that you put in a dorm but a bigger one along with a microwave. The bathtub is small but functional and clean and the water pressure coming out of the shower is great. Breakfast was another outstanding thing. Eggs, sausage links, either fried potatoes or biscuits and gravy depending on which morning, waffle maker, cereal, yogurt, Danish and muffins, coffee, juice and milk. Everything was tasty. Didn't need to put a ton of salt and pepper on it. Location to Cades Cove is excellent. It's maybe 15 minutes from the door of the hotel to the entrance of Cades Cove. The manager Andre is outgoing and friendly and was very pleasant and joking with everybody that I saw him interact with. There's a pool that I did not take advantage of it. And the last thing is there's no little coffee maker in the room. But there's coffee in the lobby from 6:00 a.m. To 10:00 a.m. And if you're like me you travel with a full size coffee maker anyway. I will definitely book this hotel when I go back to Cades Cove next year.
Cleanliness
I reserved a handicapped room and didn't receive one. My door did not lock. The TV was very complicated to operate. Walk to my car was too far, I wanted a handicap room, what was the purpose of a reservation if a handicap room was not reserved for me.
Location was great and it was a place to sleep at.
I had issues with booking.com which got resolved but I also called the hotel to confirm the reservation to see if it had went through and the guy said that he cannot help me. It is a third party which I understand and literally hung the phone up on me. I got there. The door wasn't open. They had to re-key the door. The guy was very courteous. I get in the room. There's dust everywhere I go and turn on the kitchen faucet to wash my hands and brown water came out and also came out of the bathtub and there were ants on the wall which I just took water and flushed them down the drain. There were dead insects in the room. The TV sort of worked and for the price it wasn't really worth it. I stayed there last year and it was like a completely different hotel. And I overheard the maintenance guy seeing that they only rent out those back rooms once a year but they still should clean them and make sure the water is not browned which I understand. Can be rust and dirt in the pipes but still. And also clean up the room. Dead bugs really ants in the bathtub on the shower wall.!!
Great location for us. Great continental breakfast. Super helpful friendly staff.
Everything was great.
The room was nicely sized and comfortable. The offered breakfast was better than is normal for such percs.
No problems.
