I love the esthetic of the hotel. I've stayed there a few times. I like its old world charm, canopy beds and spiral staircases.
The woman at the front desk was cold and unwelcoming. She's consistently that way when I encountered her on my previous stays. The other staff members are warmer less frigid.
Hotel needs a lot of repairs and cleaning.
A gym with equipment that works and is safe.
The property was very quaint however they use something like popery or some kind of scent all over the hotel that made me incredibly sick all night
The night staff man from Jamaica was incredibly nice and accommodating
I literally was having trouble breathing
The bed was rockhard
There was only one place to charge your phone in the room, which was across from the bed, which was incredibly inconvenient
I had to wait in the morning for almost 15 minutes for someone to come to the front desk to get my receipt
It was horribly overpriced
The room was musty and humid, and the air-conditioning did not work well
For the money spent on the room it was definitely not worth it
I would’ve had a more comfortable stay at a Hilton
I think for someone doing a wedding there or something it’s a beautiful property, but it did remind me of a nursing home
I give this a two
The overwhelming smell that obviously was covering up mustiness
The bed was a rock hard
The hallway was noisy
The cleaning woman in the morning watched me walk out to my vehicle and said are you checking out frankly if I don’t have to check out till 11 o’clock she shouldn’t be asking that question
I felt it was very rude
It was incredibly overpriced for what you received for it
The room had only one place to charge a phone across from the bed, and that was very inconvenient. There should be a plug to plug in your phone near your bed.
The room was musty. It was overwhelmingly sprayed with something flowery that made me incredibly sick and I could not breathe in the morning.
Whatever you’re spraying in that hotel, you need to stop because it literally makes people sick especially people like me who have asthma and issues with fragrances. It’s totally unacceptable and should be a forewarning for anyone coming in.
The smell is overwhelming
The hallway was very noisy
Making it difficult to sleep
I would never make a point of staying there again I would rather drive out of my way spend half the money and not have to deal with coughing all night because I can’t breathe
There was also a dehumidifier in the room, which is a complete turn off to me
I was raised in Connecticut I was driving through and honestly, for such an upscale area you would think that there would be more attention put into detrimental things instead of decorating the place
Such as working air-conditioning
Copper cleaning without harsh, flowery smell smells
The shower was dirty. It had bugs in it.
There is a hairdryer attached to the wall right next to a sink which raises to me a safety issue, especially if a child is washing their hands and gets curious and turns on the hairdryer. Then you have an electrocuted kid.
Horrible staff. They do not care about you. The rooms are outdated. Taylor, Michael, and robin are all awful extremely rude employees. Do not stay here. It is not worth your money.
Our room was competitively priced with nearby hotels. The hotel has large rooms attractively furnishe in colonial revival style. The bathrooms are in need of a refresh. The toilet was slow to flush and the faucets were damaged but still working. Lots of rust on the bathroom light fixture. The breakfast included in the room cost was the typical scrambled egg buffet like chain hotels. This is a large hotel so I can imagine it’s financially challenging as a business.
A lovely property, well appointed.
Coffee was excellent but continental breakfast was lacking.
Lovely older hotel very conveniently located. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Breakfast included had hot eggs, bacon & potatoes as well as toast and cereal options. Dinner only available 3 nights a week, but plenty of local options. Will stay here again
Perfect East Coast classic hotel, and by that I don’t mean stuffy but well appointed, tasteful, with lots of special details like books and magazines to read, some historical displays that connect you to the location. Comfortable couches to sink into in the common areas, with fireplace, games to play. Cozy timbered bar. Pool table. Little nooks where you could work quietly. We loved our room, which was very comfortable and tasteful. Great bed and pillows and an actual comforter instead of just a sheet and stiff coverlet as one usually finds in the summertime. Slept like a dream. We were in the upper building and its lobby is a pleasure to walk into, smells wonderful too. The grounds behind are fun to explore. Lots of birds and baby bunnies bouncing through the garden. The pool is magnificent! Perfect temperature, with a dramatic backdrop of towering pines. Heaven. All the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. Coffee available anytime and there was wine cheese and crackers in the lobby when we checked in. Breakfast was copious. Tons of parking & not far to go for restaurants or shopping. So, overall - loved that it was a “real“ hotel that felt gracious, not an ironic take on old-fashioned graciousness.
Simply that i I’m not entirely convinced that it’s not more cost-effective to have real plates and silverware at breakfast, that could be washed in the restaurant’s dish machine each day… It breaks my heart to use and throw away so much single use paper and plastic. The trash can at 9 am was very already full of barely used plates and utensils and the hotel wasn’t that crowded when we were there. Even if it cost a bit more, I’d give the Hotel mega points for being ecologically responsible 🙂
Big pool, great breakfast buffet especially the waffles and Vermont maple syrup, hot shower with good pressure.
The beds have springs that I could feel. Didn’t like having to pay additional resort fees.
Calm peaceful atmosphere
Breakfast was good, just a little short of expectations
Very disappointing! The hotel looks decent enough on arrival - nice foyer area, comfy sofas - but it stops there.
Not much of a welcome at reception; room smelt of old socks; tatty stairwell/communal space; bathroom fittings corroded and discoloured; dark room with inadequate lighting.....
I could go on but this just about sums it up - paper plates and plastic cutlery for the buffet breakfast!
Stile raffinato, struttura molto ben mantenuta, piscina e parco molto bellii
Mi sarebbe piaciuto poter aprire le finestre in camera. Avevo chiesto durante la prenotazione di far togliere il piumone sul letto ma non é stato fatto
I have written my opinion in this section twice and accidentally closed the email and lost everything.
So please allow me to say everything, from the staff to the amenities, was FAN-TAS-TIC!! I will definitely return.
This is not the hotel's fault, per se, but when I arrived, there was a poop in the toilet. Not a great first impression, but really, all the excellent qualities and experiences over-shadowed that one problem.
We had a funeral so booked last minute. Rooms shown online are very different from old room we occupied. Towels great! Black mold behind toliet! Disgusting!
Heater so noisey. The bathroom and room need a complete makeover. Safe on top shelf of closet. Impossible to reach!!
All other newer hotels were booked.
The furniture in the reception area is so depressing, crowded and old and dark! So uninviting.
Mold is in room 205!!
Breakfast was so so
Beds were bad, sunk in the middle.
