I was extremely disappointed with the parking situation at Hotel Mockingbird. The hotel charges $43 per day for valet parking, yet during my stay the valet parking area appeared virtually empty. I took a photo because I was surprised by how much available space there seemed to be.
If you do not want to pay $43 every day for valet parking, the alternative is a separate parking garage some distance from the hotel. Hotel guests are only allowed to park on the 5th or 6th floor of that garage. I also took a photo from the hotel showing the garage and just how far away it is.
As a woman traveling alone, this was not simply an inconvenience. It made me feel vulnerable, unsafe, and genuinely scared.
I had to park several floors up in the garage and then walk from the garage back to the hotel by myself in the evening. During that walk, I had to pass a man sitting alone in a pickup truck with the engine running. Nothing happened, but having to walk past an occupied vehicle alone in the evening and continue all the way back to the hotel was frightening and made me extremely uncomfortable.
My issue is not simply that valet parking costs $43. My issue is that the practical choice for guests is to pay a substantial daily valet fee or park on the 5th or 6th floor of a distant garage and make the walk back to the hotel. For a woman traveling alone, that can create very real concerns about personal safety.
I understand that hotels charge for parking, particularly in cities. However, guests who do not choose valet should have access to a reasonably close, well lit, and safe self parking option. A woman traveling alone should not have to choose between paying $43 every day or making an evening walk that leaves her feeling vulnerable and scared.
I am attaching photos of the nearly empty valet parking area and the distant parking garage because I think prospective guests, especially women traveling alone, should understand the parking arrangement before deciding whether to stay here.
The parking situation significantly affected how safe and comfortable I felt during my stay, and I sincerely hope the hotel takes this concern seriously.
Clean, comfortable, and conveniently located for our meetings.
Front desk manager Jakory Clark took great care of us during our one-day power outage at home! My wife and I are lifetime Gold and Platinum Bonvoy members, respectively, and we highly recommend this hotel to everyone!!
Conveniently located and makes all destinations in Dallas a short trip.
Slight congestion in parking lot.
Love this hotel, near my son and his family. Near many activities. Fabulous restaurant on site!
Hotel staff was nice
Breakfast was chaotic on Saturday morning … I had a 1 hour wait for my food!
Convenient location and nicely appointed rooms. Restaurant served great food. Raven speakeasy was cool. Some unique and deliciously crafted original drinks. Whole staff very friendly and attentive.
Staff was amazing very friendly and helpful! Room was clean no issues. Close to where we went had a great experience Will visit again!
New look is fun and eclectic. Rooms are cozy and beds are super comfortable. Breakfast amazing too!
Excellent hotel in the SMU area...will stay again. Excellent breakfast.
I travel for work and frequently stay here. The front desk staff are always friendly. The restaurant is great for dinner with happy hour specials. My only complaint is inconsistencies with valet which is required and housekeeping. In the evening valet can get very backed. Mornings it can vary 5 minutes to 25 minutes until your car is brought up. I usually text for my car 10-15 minutes before I need to leave.
My last two trips I had no housekeeping one of my three nights and this trip the removed dirty towels bit did not replace them, did not remove my dirty coffee cup or replenish the coffee station. Others in my group had similar experiences on different days. Generally I enjoy my stays and have several upcoming stays in the next month.
The hotel is really pretty. It’s very stylish and contemporary. The furniture throughout the hotel is very comfortable. The staff at reception was very friendly and quick to take care of us. We arrived early for meetings, so we sat at the bar for a breakfast snack. I had the yogurt parfait. It was delish.
Can only say great things about this hotel. Rooms are incredibly clean and welcoming, as is the entire hotel. Look forward to my next visit there.
Dropped my daughter at college.
A perfect hotel for a quick conference trip. Immaculate facilities, comfortable room, nice restaurant.
Very clean, friendly staff

Great experience staying at this hotel, staff was wonderful.
I stayed at the property for two days while on business and spent two additional days with my family. The rooms, the property, and the staff were all great. The hotel is conveniently located to all the attractions we were looking to visit. Overall, we had a great experience, I highly recommend the Hotel Mockingbird.
