Perfect location for my trip in the middle of the city and very close to the train station. Friendly and welcoming staff.
The Copthorne is in a great location to access Plymouth City Center .
There are a few parking spots outside the main entrance and a small underground carpark, a charge per 24 hrs of £9
Reception will give you a direction map to this as you have to go around to the back of the hotel. The turning up to the carpark is sign posted with a small sign, It does seem like you are driving up a pedestrian walkway at first , the carpark entrance is at the top on the left .
We stayed for an event at Plymouth Arena which is just a very convenient 10 minute walk away.
The room was clean and very spacious (we upgraded to the double delux)

The upgraded room was very spacious, clean and had everything you would want to have, including a lovely view of Plymouth. The staff were excellent and welcoming.
The food, granary bloomer was just brown bread, the chicken curry could have come straight from Sainsbury's across the road and the cooked breakfast seemed to have been under the lights for ages.

No indication that there would be a lot of steps to access the hotel and then even more to reach reception. This should have been flagged up so that potential guests know this in advance. Very difficult when you have luggage. Breakfast was definitely not worth the cost

Garage door broken but this was to be remedied shortly. No air conditioning but fan was very good.

Large, comfortable room. Good bedding and towels. Very clean in all areas. Quite good self-service breakfast. Very friendly efficient and helpful staff. Small secure car park. About a 10 minute walk to Plymouth attractions. This is the 3rd time I've stayed here, it's a good option for Plymouth, with parking and reasonably priced. I would definitely stay again.
No air conditioning but a fan was provided but the window didn't open very far. The entrance to the hotel car park is difficult to find but this isn't the hotel's fault. The council has changed the roads around the hotel. Best to park outside the front door then go in & ask hotel staff for directions and map to the car park. No problem if you're on foot.
Convenient for the railway station, staff pleasant and helpful.
On a positive note, the hotel staff were incredibly pleasant and provided excellent service. The breakfast team, in particular, could not do enough for us, especially one lovely lady, who we believe was of Polish background. The breakfast itself was fantastic, offering a wide variety of delicious choices. The bar staff were equally friendly and helpful; when we were unsure about a beer, they kindly let us sample it first. It turned out to be exactly what we were looking for, which we wouldn't have known without their thoughtful gesture.
The hotel offered a very mixed experience. While the decor in some of the communal areas felt modern, the bedrooms clearly need a lot of work. Our room featured a bizarre, medieval-style headboard that completely clashed with the rest of the hotel and worse, it didn't even look clean. The room amenities were incredibly inconsistent. While some rooms had air conditioning, others did not. We stayed during an extreme heatwave in a room where the windows could not be opened, and the provided fan did nothing but circulate hot air. To make matters worse, our fridge was completely empty. I strongly suggest providing complimentary bottled water, especially during high temperatures. Other guests in our group paid the exact same price but had their fridges stocked and replenished daily with water and soft drinks.
It’s great hotel for parents staying when doing the uni trips
Sadly this time housekeeping let them down / room wasn’t cleaned any of the days stayed so had to call down for a bin empty and fresh towels
