Great Hotel & Good service from staff
Pros:

We had a wonderful stay at the Embassy Suites while celebrating our 23rd anniversary. As Diamond guests, this was our first time staying at an Embassy Suites because we are from the United Kingdom and Embassy Suites hotels are only in the USA.
The receptionist, Tesha, was very friendly and welcoming. She explained all the hotel facilities clearly and kindly upgraded us to a lovely suite.
The hotel location was very convenient, with many restaurants nearby and a petrol station just one block away, which was helpful before driving to our next destination.
The breakfast was excellent, with both a buffet and freshly cooked breakfast included. We also enjoyed the evening reception with two complimentary drinks per guest, discounted drinks available from 5:30pm–7:00pm, and à la carte food options. It was very relaxing to enjoy drinks at the hotel after a long day.
The service throughout our stay was excellent. Special thanks to Jason Guidry for arranging beautiful flowers and amenities for our anniversary, which made our celebration truly memorable.
Thank you to the entire team for such a lovely experience!

Looks good but rooms are tired
Pros:

Typically nice public spaces. Rooms due for renovation. TLDR.
The free breakfast and happy hour drinks remain on par for an Embassy Suites.
Staff is a mix of friendly and clock watching.
The room (802) was way past its prime (e.g., (1) leaky bathroom faucet, (2) bathroom room door seriously warped requiring a firm push to close, (3) a dresser drawer needing a lot of muscle to open, (4) closet doors misaligned by at least an inch, (5) lumpy sofa bed cushions, (6) mini fridge was too big for the cabinet door to close, (7) bedroom TV mount would not stay in your adjusted position and flop downward), (8) A/C worked well, but heater was struggling to warm up the suite (one degree in 2 hours).
The mattress was okay, not great, for a decent night’s sleep.
Chaise portion of the sofa was very good.
Quoting another guest in a jumpy elevator, “every time we stay here there’s at least one thing broken.”

The Joy of Embassy Suites
Pros:

My stay at the Embassy Suites was a traveler's dream. The room was comfortable, luxurious, and clean. In addition, the breakfast experience was sublime: the food was plentiful, varied, and delicious, and the staff was courteous, friendly, and attentive. I would recommend Embassy Suites to everyone; you will not be disappointed.

Bar rip-off
Pros:

ONE Weller Manhattan cost $47.30! I’d expect to pay maybe $22 in a hotel lounge in Richmond, VA for this cocktail.

Bartender Shanna sympathetic …even waived charge for the vermouth.

Shame on bar manager - customers should not have to price check an average drink before committing to a purchase.

Cons:

Booking .com is a terrible service to use. The representative misled me, lied to me and had me sign text message he sent to sham me out of $155.00 to book the room at Embassy suites. Stating all rooms were booked, this was a lie.

Unacceptable - SAFETY concern
Pros:

I am a 65 year old senior and for me this was something considered major. We were there for only a one night stay. There are some things I can overlook, but not when it comes to my safety. We were assigned Room 508. Left for the evening and came back around 10pm. The problem is that our door was not locked. For whatever reason I turned the handle to enter the room and it just opened without the card. ODD! So I tried it several more times and sure enough each and every time I tried it, the door would open without a cardkey. My husband stayed in the room and I immediately notified the front desk and they gave us another room. I usually don't write reviews but this could not be left unsaid. Safety is first and foremost. I'm glad no one entered our room while we were out. But guest, make sure you check to ensure your door is secure. Embassy Suites, come on now! Do BETTER!

It was highly disappointing considering that this was an embassy suites
Pros:

The room we were in was extremely hot. The elevators were slow. There was only one stair well. The doors didn’t shut all the way, the pool chemicals were way out of range and the pool was extremely cold.

Cons:

The pool heater could have been turned on sooner since the hotel knew it was at capacity.

Try somewhere else
Pros:

I’m a frequent traveler, and this stay at Embassy Suites by Hilton Richmond was, unfortunately, one of the more disappointing experiences I’ve had with the brand.

The room was clearly worn and not properly cleaned. Several lights didn’t work, leaving the space so dim it was difficult to even see well enough to iron clothes. The bathroom was in poor condition—broken hooks, visible grime—and the cabinet holding the TV was literally pulling away from the wall. Dust was noticeable throughout the room.

But the pièce de résistance: while showering, I looked up to find a used, dirty washcloth hanging on the shower curtain rod. That alone raises serious concerns about housekeeping standards.

To add to the experience, I had a last-minute meeting and asked the front desk for a very short late checkout (15–30 minutes). There wasn’t even an attempt to check—just an immediate “no” because the room needed to be cleaned. Given the condition of the room, that response was a bit ironic.

Hilton is typically known for consistency and quality, which made this stay stand out for all the wrong reasons. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as this property does not reflect the standard your brand represents.
