What I like the most was that there was an error made with my check-in and to correct it, they immediately upgraded our room, and offered restaurant exemptions for the trouble. Wonderful Service!
Nothing we didn't like!
Really nice rooms close to the beach destination credit is nice. View from restaurant is pretty.
Great hotel with great location as well
Great location just a couple of blocks from the beach yet perfectly situated to hop on the highway and access the rest of San Diego. Lovely ocean breeze; all views face west toward the ocean.
Very nice breakfast bar out on the patio every morning. Peaceful environment for getting a good nights sleep. Nice tropical landscaping. Good parking lot where you can see your car from above. Very comfortable and secure for solo travelers. Great front desk experience—shout out to Jeff for professionalism and extensive knowledge and willingness to assist guests. Will return!
Waited for hotel room with no room available until 5:30pm. We arrived early and asked for early check in the day before.I will never stay here again.
This hotel has a relaxed vibe. It’s decorated in mid modern style. The rooms are nice and have small balconies with chairs & table to enjoy the weather. The caffe bar is very nice and next to the pool and outdoor seating area with a fireplace. A nice place you can relax. I would definitely recommend if in the area. Within walking distance to great restaurants and the beach.
Awesome resort atmosphere, friendly staff, great amenities
There was plenty of parking on site. The room had a nice view. The location was great for walking to the local restaurants and beaches.
The hotel food was not good. The hotel is expensive; they put a very large hold on your card, and the parking was $45 per day. You are required to pay $30 per day, which you get to use as a credit at the hotel; however, the food isn't worth it.
Made a reservation (and fully paid) through a third party (Expedia) for a suite on Father's Day weekend TEN days in advance. We were visiting our brand new grandbaby, and we were running late getting to the hotel and decided to call to make sure to check in on time. Was then informed by hotel that they "unfortunately" did not have the suite that we had reserved since they were "overbooked!" They claimed that they did not have my contact information to let me know prior to us showing up, even though we did get the standard "so excited to have you visit" email few days before.
Obviously we were refunded the money (through Expedia), but we never got to enjoy our Fathers Day as planned! Still cannot figure out how a hotel can just cancel your reservation like that...bottom line: do NOT book this hotel through a third party! And from reading other reviews, perhaps be careful booking this in general since we are not the only ones recently who have had this experience.
Shameful!
I had an amazing 7-day stay at Hotel La Jolla, Curio Collection by Hilton, and I can honestly say the experience was outstanding from start to finish. The property itself was beautiful, comfortable, and in a great location, but what truly made the stay memorable was the level of service.
Luiggie Valdez, the manager, went above and beyond every single day to make sure everything was perfect. His professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made us feel welcomed and genuinely taken care of. He set the tone for the entire experience, and his staff followed through with the same level of care and hospitality.
Every interaction with the team was friendly, helpful, and sincere. It never felt forced — just true hospitality done right. This was easily a 5-star experience, and I would absolutely recommend Hotel La Jolla to anyone looking for a relaxing stay with exceptional service.
Thank you to Luiggie and the entire staff for making our stay so incredible. We’ll definitely be back.
Honestly, this is the worst hotel experience you can imagine. Initially we were given a room directly behind the front desk entrance -- meaning loud delivery trucks, garbage trucks, in and out burger truck, not to mention it was right in front of the elevators so you hear everybody coming and going. When we told the front desk, they said they could not provide us with another room until the next night. After putting us in 305, again directly in front of the elevators, after we told them expressly not to, our room A/C was broken, the shower was scalding hot, and our wifi was not working so our Tv did not work at all despite multiple resets. Juan was sent to fix these things the NEXT day.
Not to mention, this hotel has fewer amenities and worse hygiene than a dingy motel. There is not even a microwave in your room or on the property at all. Soap had not been replenished and carpet had stains and bed smelled. Aside from that, the fridge was set to 55 degrees and all of our food/milk went bad. You cannot adjust their tiny, dwarf mini fridge.
It is also a scam. $90 for two days of parking with signs that say "We are not responsible if all your belongings are stolen" and multiple ambiguous charges on our bill at check out. They charge you $30 a night as a hotel fee under the guise of encouraging you to use a credit to buy their overpriced garbage. Nothing is included, breakfast will run you $60 a person. Rooms feel claustrophobic.
You don't get the feeling anyone competent works here, we watched people getting trained on the spot. No one is ever cleaning and this place is a hazard. WE FOUND DRUGS LITERALLY NEXT TO THE POOL AFTER BEING TOLD THIS IS A SMOKE FREE HOTEL. Ridiculous.
Above all, hospitality was non existent. Luigi is the smuggest, most annoying, clueless, condescending, unprofessional Operational Manager you will find at a hotel in the states. He downplayed all of our concerns and shrugged his shoulders when we told him about these problems including a broken a/c, cleanliness, broken shower, etc. Then, he had the audacity to say "So what is it you are wanting?" After all our complaints, he offered us a measly $30 promotional credit to use at the snotty breakfast restaurant upstairs, which does not even cover drinks for two people. As he was brushing us off, a trainee named Tanya interjected almost to try to impress her new boss. She even said "What do we have to give you for you to go?"
If you like burning your wallet, wasting money, or spending a small fortune and mortgaging your house for one night here just know: when you call, no one will pick up the phone to answer your concerns and this place is atrocious.
I am currently staying here and the location is great. The service has been amazing too. Laila at sea and sky made me feel at home for breakfast. She was amazing 10/10. I loved the pancakes. Will definitely go back!!
Great location, not as hectic as the cove, but easy access to the beach. Nice restaurant/bar with stunning views at sunset. Room was nicely appointed, if a little dated in aspects. Balcony was great.
I paid for all the extras on booking.com and didn't get all the extras by any means:
- king size bed (x) we had 2 queen beds for our anniversary. :-/
- high floor (x) 4th floor as there were no high rooms left due to overbooking
- $50 f&b voucher per day (x) was given $50 in total, supposedly due to the first two points, not because I paid for them
- early check-in/late check-out (partial) got a late check out, but requests for early checkin went unanswered and our room wasn't ready until 4pm anyway.
I would advise others not to pay for extras on here since the hotels don't honour them.
Laila serving our breakfast was friendly, efficient and informative. An asset to your staff! The accompanying views of La Jolla, the Pacific, and the surrounding hills are spectacular.
Abysmal experience. Ruined the Hilton brand for me.
Check-in - Was late but the guy seemed high as a kite and took forever to "boot up his computer". When I walked to the desk, he was on his phone chatting with a buddy. Took more than 30 seconds to get him to get off his phone while I am twiddling my thumbs waiting for him. Then it takes him 5 more minutes (no exaggeration) to find my reservation. He says the "computer is slow" and tries to make small talk but again, pretty incoherent and at this point I am getting extremely agitated as I am tired after a long journey and it's crazy how long this is taking for a $350/night hotel. One guy in the entire hotel to help and a slow computer. He doesnt ask me about an upgrade despite being a Diamond and after I finally get the key, I am repulsed by how dirty and old the elevators are. I get a bad room assignment next to the elevators and its filthy. I took a bunch of pictures and happy to share with hotel management. Next day was worse - had breakfast at their 11th floor restaurant and when I get the invoice after I get home, they double charged me. Every single item was duplicated and even though they took $30 off for the destination fee they charge every day, they didnt also credit me for my Diamond benefit. So not only did they double charge me, they also didnt add the credit. Overall, awful stay in an awful hotel with awful management. I usually dont write reviews but felt compelled to. Serious improvement needed. Hilton's name is tarnished by this hotel.
Food was great, atmosphere was great, and the service from Laila was great as well! Would definitely take the family here again!
Laila was the Bert server and the restaurant was a great view! Thank you for a great brunch!
