Clasico y silencioso
El centro de SD , esta muy descuidado y lleno de gente con trastornada
Nice hotel - large rooms. However, beware, they place a hold on your credit card and despite emailing hotel and getting no response, it is still a pending transaction over 2 weeks after we left. Can you please remove this transaction from my card!
Stanza grande, elegante e la piscina molto bella
Aria condizionata sui letti non direzionabile
This hotel is a beacon of elegance and grace. The lobby is welcoming with its royal blue and golden accents. The chandeliers are stunning and their staff is attentive. Ivan who worked the evenings at the front desk was a wonderful. Helpful, thoughtful, and kind, he answered any and all of our questions. Thank you to all the staff. We look forward to returning soon.
Have always like this property, but the rooms, at least the one we were in, need updating.
Rooms need updating. Common areas are great!
The lobby decor, location for Amtrak and USS Medway.
Pool/Bar facilities
Restaurant expensive
The hotel staff were exceptional. I appreciated their response to when I said thank you, they said, "My pleasure" and did not say "no worries". Very professional and strived to meet your every need. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. There were excellent gym facilities, a spa, and a fun pool and bar!
Our room was located on the next to a trolley station. The trolley ringing at 5am interrupted our slumber but we did fall asleep.
Excellent front desk staff. Extremely helpful and courteous. I love that they respond with “My pleasure “ instead of “No worries”. Brandon at the poolside bar is in a class by himself with his welcoming smile and outstanding service. He should be the role model for all the staff. Beautiful rooms and lobby. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable Excellent gym and pool area. Easy walk to Gaslamp area and a 15 minute walk to Little Italy. We will definitely stay here again.
The worst hotel experience. Their reception team are extremely unwelcoming and unhelpful at check in.
Rude and unprofessional staff aside - the primary reason for most hotel bookings is for guests to rest and sleep? No chance here, you may as well spend the night in the train station.
Trains run every few minutes, starting at 5am they ran til 2am on the weekend we stayed - apparently federal rail regulations mean they have to honk their horn ridiculously loudly on approach/departure so with the unbearable noise it is impossible to get any sleep.
Their finance system is outdated (or staff do not know how to use.) You need to watch out very carefully for any charges they apply to your credit card, be aware of exactly what they process. Even when they are clearly wrong they won’t take any responsibility or apologise for their mistake.
Couldn’t wait to leave this hotel and their nasty staff. Yet to add further frustration - the hold transaction on that generally just disappears from your credit card the day after check out of a hotel… It took 5 weeks after leaving San Diego for the Westgate hotel to finally released their charge. Completely unreasonable.
My wife and I stayed at the Westgate for three nights during our trip to San Diego. Our main purpose was to go to a Padres game, but we wanted to explore around the city as well. The Westgate was a perfect place to stay. The room was bright and luxurious, with everything we needed.
The hotel is located on the edge of the Gaslamp District, right downtown. So, most places immediately nearby are closed by 9pm, but with a 5-minute walk, you can find late night snacks or drinks even if it's late. The desk clerk on duty when we checked in at 9pm recommended Tacos El Gordo, and he was right on the money.
If you are interested in visiting the Gaslamp District, or seeing a ballgame then this hotel is perfect for location because you can walk right to those areas. If you're more interested in other parts of the city, like Pacific Beach or Little Italy, you may want a car or prepare to use rideshare services.
If you plan to spend more time in the hotel, the pool is lovely, although a little small, with limited space for lounge chairs.
