Large room, clean. We were able to walk to the train station.
Great location near all things downtown Anchorage. Room was clean, staff was friendly. There is some noise due to being close to the train station, but nothing inside the hotel. Value was good for the area, The room only had one chair and no drawers to store your cloths , therefore we had to live out of our luggage's. The atmosphere was okay, we was out most of the time,
The bed was comfortable and linens were good. Tina in the breakfast area was great. She kept everything stocked, excellent coffee and clean. Jallow at counter was friendly and helpful.
The pictures are quite deceiving and misleading. This is a very old hotel and it shows. It needs to be gone through and fixed up. The windows were filthy. The carpet was clean. The AC needs to be replaced.
We had a reservation for a few months, we flew on Aug 25, arrived late at 1 am on the 26, took the shuttle, the driver was amazing, got to the hotel at around 1:30 to find 2 people in the lobby the clerk and a potential guest, the guest was trying to check in, no availability, he also had a reservation, my wife and got the same response, they overbooked and had no rooms for us, after traveling all day from Rochester NY to Anchorage Alaska what a horrible disappointment! As I was sitting in the lobby trying to figure out how to correct the situation, I noticed out of the corner of my eye movement on the floor, it was nice scurrying around! Gross right in the lobby! Glad we didn't get to stay there!
I had a terrible experience at this hotel. Right after checking into the hotel, I decided to use the lobby bathroom. While I was in the bathroom, I heard someone using the door combination to get in, I held the door closed with my hand and told them that it was being used. About 30 seconds later, someone tried to get in the door combination again. At this point I am behind the door trying to hold it closed while reiterating that the bathroom is being used. However, the door was violently pushed open, hitting me in the mouth. Turns out, it was the late night shuttle driver barging into the bathroom telling me to get out and that I don’t have a room there. I hurried and pulled up my pants and told him about 30 times that I am using this bathroom and that I have a room. At this point, I am hiding behind the bathroom door with my pants halfway up while he verifies with the receptionist, with a family watching all of this happen, my room number and name. Absolutely ridiculous. Will NEVER come to this hotel again and cannot believe that the SHUTTLE DRIVER would take it upon himself to try and throw someone out of the bathroom by barging in and aggressively shoving the door open. Also, there was no management to talk to afterwards about what happened. Horrible service, would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
It was the least expensive of the big hotels, i needed 2 rooms
Noisy from freight trains blowing horns all through the night, breakfast was lousy and morning staff young female receptionist was unwelcoming and it seemed an effort to be friendly. The afternoon staff at check in we met were the opposite
Between the train horns, seagulls, and auto traffic, my room wasn't great. The location wasn't near where we were traveling.
The breakfast was not great. The staff were wonderful! The beds were comfortable. Sketchy location.
Location close to train station
Rooms were very dirty. Bathroom still had items from previous guests on floor. Sheets were stained. Carpet dirty. Windows did not lock (we were on the first floor) and window screens were torn. Ice machine and pancake machine were broken. Pool had a terrible moldy smell. Staff was unpleasant. Web site advertised a downtown shuttle but refused to pickup and we had to Uber from hospitality center. We would have stayed elsewhere but were so tired….
Perfect location for train depot and walking along the river
Location near Alaska Railroad
Room was beat up. Dated decor. Air conditioner filthy. Carpet in the halls dirty. Nicked up walls. Low quality. Got in after ten and wanted something to eat. Only vending machines. Some hotels have refrigerated or freezer foods to buy and eat.
Location to train station
Dirty, run down and expensive
Everything was right on site
