Great to stay on a converted boat, room was not huge but comfortable enough for a one night stay. Staff were helpful. Public parking close by was fine.
The seals over the river were a bit noisy, despite the provided ear plugs. The food in the restaurant was average, the service was poor and the drinks very expensive. It would be nice to have a small refrigerator.
The view
I would like to have had a tour
You can't beat the location. You walk off the boat right into the middle of Sacramento Old Town. Sutter Health Stadium is an 11 minute walk. You have a bar and a restaurant right on board, and a view of the river and Tower Bridge. The boat itself has an interesting history and it's a unique experience to stay there. Pro tip, skip Joe's Crab Shack and eat at the Railroad fish and chips place right at the top of the boat ramp. Go to the train museum, it's only a block away!
I wish you had to be a hotel guest to enter the sections of the boat that are hotel rooms. We had a few sightseers hanging out in front of our room a few times, including someone filming themselves doing a tiktok dance. Made taking naps a little difficult, but this is really a first world problem and I should shut up.
It was lovely staying on the River boat. Very unique.
My overall impression woukd have been much better except for the valet and check out. I had to leave at 2:30 am and conveyed this to both the valet and front check-in desk. I was told my car would be in valet drop off area and would just need to get the keys from the front desk. When I checked out my car was not in the valet drop off area and valet was not on duty that early. The desk clerk was wonderful. She located my keys, shut down the front desk and then walked the 3 blocks to the parking garage with me to locate my car. I specifically did valet so I would not have to walk 3 blocks with my luggage in the middle of the night. The hotel still charged me for valet parking and never responded to my messages about this charge since I had to locate the car myself. Ruined an otherwise nice stay. The night clerk was wonderful!
Very unique experience staying on a paddle wheeler. The staff was wonderful. There was so much to do within walking distance. We really enjoyed spending the evening on the deck for a night cap.
Being right in middle of old town, also more personable all staff excellent wish I had more time
Just wishing I got the discount we got staying there often many years ago as a San Francisco police officer
Now retired Richard DellAgostino
Everything
The nostalgia of an old operational steam ship. The bar and restaurant are excellent. The bed was comfy and room was clean.
The Sea Lions barking all night.
Like staying on a piece of history. The boat is so atmospheric and moored in a great location.
All the staff were great.
Sealions off the port side were a bonus!
Nothing
Beautiful view of river and good location.
No access for upper floor bar and rooms for handicapped. Staff and some restaurant workers were uniformed. Menus were strange with basically no fruits or vegetables.
Unique opportunity to live on a real ship. I was thrilled. Highly recommend as an experience.
Not a disadvantage, but something to keep in mind. This is a real old ship, it’s been renovated but some things may not feel as comfortable as your regular new hotel. And also, you can hear seals at all times.
location, bar/dining room
this should be a motel priced hotel. The rooms are old, small, and loud. They give you ear plugs by your bed for a reason. Also would have been nice for them to have better signage about the lobby ramp vs the dining ramp
