Prestige Oceanview Hotel Prince Rupert

The breakfast selection was very poor. Room average . Not what you’d expect for almost $400/ night

I really wanted to have a better experience here, especially considering the price we paid, but unfortunately the cleanliness really let this hotel down.

The hotel itself was older and much more dated than I expected for the cost. After a very long drive, we were exhausted and just wanted to settle in for the night before catching the ferry to Haida Gwaii the next morning.

My daughter wanted to take a bath and asked me to clean out the tub first. At first I looked at her confused because we had just checked in, but when I looked more closely, there were several small black pubic hairs in the bathtub and even some in the sink. I immediately called the front desk because that was extremely unpleasant to find in a room that was supposed to have been cleaned before our arrival.

The woman I spoke with was very kind and accommodating and moved us to another room, which I believe may have been an upgrade.

Unfortunately, after moving all of our belongings into the second room, we went over to the window to look at the view and I stepped on something dark, cold and sticky on the floor. I honestly had no idea what it was, and at first I thought I had stepped in something like dog feces. It was disgusting. At that point we had already moved everything from the first room, we were exhausted, and we just wanted to sleep, so I didn’t even call the front desk again.

The whole experience really threw us off and made us uncomfortable about the cleanliness of the hotel. My daughter ended up having a shower instead of the bath she wanted, and I didn’t shower or bathe there at all. I waited until we reached our next hotel in Haida Gwaii.

There was breakfast available at the hotel as well, but after what we had already encountered in both rooms, I just didn’t feel comfortable eating there. I didn’t want to risk feeling sick before a long ferry ride.

There are a few things about this hotel which detract from it's posture as one of the best hotels in Price Rupert. First of all, it rains a lot in Prince Rupert, often very hard. For a hotel to not have a covered place where you can unload your car out of the rain is really LAME! The only place to unload your vehicle here is in the back alley which is poorly lite at night, amid some big puddles and with some shady people hanging about. If it's raining hard, you're going to wish that you were staying across the street at the Inn on the Harbour.
The other thing is that hotels need to get away from having carpets in the rooms. The carpet in our room really needed a good shampoo. Also, the ceiling panels were a bit askew with some of the edges showing. The second time we stayed here, the room was a bit better but didn't have a desk or chair to sit in which is inconvenient if you want to use a laptop

The surroundings are quite fair and you have to look out for junkees.

We stayed 2 nights and the room was not serviced. Only the bins were emptied. Whether we stay 2 or more nights the price is the same. The Level of service also should.

The breakfast was basic.

Kleine kamer met laag systeemplafond. Voelde ietwat bedompt en mist een zekere frisheid. Matras leek versleten en helde naar een kant.
