Bay Club Hotel and Marina

Great hotel for experience, location, comfort, relative price compared to downtown. Great for walking , marine and bay views, and close to a few great resturants

The location was ideal for relaxation. Additionally, the hotel staff were delightful and welcoming. The swimming pool was pleasant. Several cafes and restaurants were conveniently located nearby.

We had a good stay at the Bay Club Hotel & Marina on Shelter Island, especially for the price. The location is great—you can easily walk to nearby restaurants, the marina, and boat tours, which made it very convenient.

The biggest downside was that our room was nearly 80 degrees when we arrived. It would be a huge improvement if housekeeping turned on the air conditioning before guests check in. The room has an older wall unit, and it took about four hours to cool down, which was not ideal after traveling.

Other than that, the room was clean and nicely remodeled, although the overall hotel is a bit dated. The beds were surprisingly comfortable, and every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful.

Overall, it is a solid value in a great location. With a better arrival experience in the rooms, it would have been an even better stay.

Pretty location nice size room free coffee in lobby

Our time in San Diego is my family‘s highlight of the year. And the Bay Club staff has made it special for us for years. Our server Miriam has become like family. Ally, Rosie and Lupe always help us feel welcome. The Bay Club has become our summer home away from home and we already look forward to next year!

The staff was extremely helpful.

When you stay at the same hotel for as many years as have I and my family you might expect the experience to become rather routine and uneventful...
Not true for the Bay Club on Shelter Island.
We honestly feel like we are visiting our San Diego family when we're there.
This year was a special event ( 4 generations for the first time) and the hotel staff made it a very special time for us.
So many thanks to: Miriam, Ally, Lupe, Rosie and all of our San Diego family.

I would like to file a complaint regarding my recent stay.

I specifically booked and paid for a Bay View King room because having a bay view was an important reason for choosing this hotel. The photos on the Booking.com listing show rooms with a clear, open view of the bay from the balcony.

However, the room I received was significantly different. The view was almost entirely blocked by large palm trees, making it very difficult to see the bay. While a small portion of the water was technically visible, the actual experience was nothing like the view presented in the listing.

I have attached:

* screenshots from the Booking.com listing showing the advertised Bay View room;
* a photo taken from my room during my stay.

I believe the room did not reasonably match the advertised room category and that the listing created an expectation of an unobstructed bay view, which I did not receive.

For this reason, I would like to request appropriate compensation or a partial refund for the difference between the room that was advertised and the room that was actually provided.

Great location, clean, and the staff is always very friendly

Everything was just perfect. My son is transferring to San Diego for College. Staff were super helpful and friendly. My room was great. Second floor suite. Amazing views. Nice and quiet. The food was fantastic (we are foodies). The area around the hotel has a walking path and also fire pits on the beach. That was cool. Not sure how to rent or if it’s first come first serve.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well maintained, and the staff were incredibly welcoming throughout my visit. Check-in was quick, the breakfast offered plenty of variety, and the location made it easy to explore nearby attractions. I would definitely stay here again.
