Just wrapped up an 11-day stay at the Grand Hyatt Istanbul, and honestly, my feelings about the experience are quite mixed. On the positive side, the location is unbeatable, and the front desk and concierge teams were warm, polite, and handled our early check-in very smoothly. Housekeeping also deserves a big shoutout; our room attendant was exceptionally thorough and kept everything spotless every single day.
That said, the property itself is clearly dated. The rooms are showing their age and are in serious need of renovation to match true 5-star standards. But the main frustration during my stay was the room service and communication breakdown. Over my 11 days, I used room service multiple times, and it was a real rollercoaster. The first time, it was delayed by over an hour, and after multiple follow-up calls, they claimed they had come up when they hadn't, though they did end up waiving the check. The second time went fine, and the third had a minor delay. However, the fourth time was a disaster; the order was extremely late, and the staff member on the phone was downright rude and repeatedly hung up on me. What made it worse was trying to reach Reception or Guest Relations to report it—the phones just rang out four times in a row with no answer.
Eventually, I got hold of someone, but I had to explicitly state that I was going to lodge a formal complaint with the General Manager and on Booking.com because this is completely unacceptable for a 5-star brand. Only after that did they apologize and send up a fruit basket. My point here is simple: I didn't book at the Hyatt to get free food or a fruit basket, nor do I enjoy making a fuss. I booked expecting genuine 5-star hospitality from the start. Offering freebies only when a guest threatens to post reviews or contact executive management isn't real hospitality—it's just damage control. What happens to a guest who doesn't know they can escalate to the GM or leave a public review?

terrible experience, pool staff forced us out and can't sleep due to loud wedding sounds
Cons:

Staff was extreemly rude near the pool, they stopped us twice using the pool and complain about by tshirt, I told them multiple times that is made of 100% polyester, I was just standing knee level in water and watching 4 and 6 year old. Later their supervisor come and force us to leave the pool,

there was wedding in the facility and we can't sleep till 2 am due to load music

we visted dozens of facilities all aroubd the worls and never faced such issue.

Lautes Zimmer und Frühstück unter Fünf-Sterne-Niveau
Pros:

Ich mag dieses Hotel sehr und komme immer wieder gerne hierher. Besonders hervorzuheben sind der großartige Pool und die freundlichen Mitarbeiter, die den Aufenthalt angenehm machen. Auch die schöne Frühstücksterrasse habe ich sehr genossen – ein wunderbarer Ort, um in den Tag zu starten.

Cons:

Ich hatte ein teureres Zimmer mit Blick über den Bosporus gebucht. Leider war es selbst im 8. Stock extrem laut. Bei meinen früheren Aufenthalten waren die günstigeren Zimmer mit Poolblick wesentlich angenehmer. Der Aufpreis hat sich für mich nicht gelohnt.

Besonders enttäuschend war das Frühstück, das einem Fünf-Sterne-Hotel aus meiner Sicht nicht gerecht wird. Es gab keine frisch gepressten Säfte – gerade in einem Land mit Orangenanbau finde ich das befremdlich. Auch das Zitronengetränk schmeckte nicht frisch, sondern hatte eine unangenehme, leicht gärig wirkende Note.

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis hat mich diesmal leider nicht überzeugt.
