Check in was fine.

Cons:

No reception from 11.00 pm to 7.00 pm, with a contracted answering service only. You can't speak to anyone from the property. Too bad if you needed any assistance during these hours.

Not great for solo travellers.

I went down to reception at 6.45 am to check out and arrange to leave my luggage as I had an early meeting. I waited until 7.10 am but no one appeared at reception, so I had to take my luggage with me to the meeting.

Pros:

The Grand Hotel has great rooms, friendly staff and is easy to get to from the airport (very close to Southern Cross station and the Sky Bus). I stay at the Grand Hotel every time I go to Melbourne now.

Pros:

I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment all on my own. The staff were really great but my room was too large for me and it was right next to the train lines at spencer street. The location to the convention centre was good!
