It’s not a hotel and definitely not a five-star accommodation. Therefore, I’m not sure what the five stars in this property’s profile are supposed to refer to. I understand that they appear to have a very nice restaurant, but I don’t see how this translates to the few rooms they offer.

In any event, we stayed over a weekend when the restaurant was closed, so in practice this was a B&B — probably one of the most overpriced ones in this part of Scotland.

Check-in is only from 4 pm. If it happens to be raining heavily, as it was on the day we arrived and you need to change your plans, you may find yourself sitting in your car in the parking lot waiting for them to open.

Breakfast doesn’t start until 8:30 am, which is quite late. This is probably why literally all the guests showed up at 8:30 sharp. However, there was only one person serving and there is no buffet, so be prepared to be patient.

Overall, the staff were very friendly and the accommodation itself was nice, but this is not a five-star hotel, and the way the place is run feels quite rigid. Given the limited check-in and breakfast times, I wouldn’t recommend it to tourists visiting the island.

Peaceful, relaxing and indulgent.
Pros:

Delicious food. Decor and lighting. Friendly, helpful staff. Cosy feel about the place. Comfortable room and well appointed.
Easily accessible from main road. Easy parking right beside accommodation.

Cons:

I would have liked natural Greek yogurt instead of tubs of low fat yogurt and crème fraiche. Also a bowl of ready to eat seasonal fresh fruit as well as dried prunes and apricots. There were bananas, pears, grapes and tangerines but sometimes nice to have it all done for you when you’re not at home.
There wasn’t a canopy over the outside seating area and firepit which 2 of the rooms had. When we were there, It was warm but a light drizzle so we were unable to use the outside facility which was disappointing.
