Breakfast
Everything OK
Breakfast superb. Rooms are quite spacious. Staff was so friendly and always asks whether we are satisfied. The place is quite vintage looking. And marginally off from the central area of the city. Nearby to the all shops and the Cathedral is walking sitance.
Nothing.
Approaching the property was a delight. It's an old coaching house/inn, which is a beautiful stone building, with a superb walled garden.
We received a very warm welcome from staff, who checked us in without any delay.
The breakfasts were excellent and cooked to perfection. Well done, chef. The lounge, bar, and conservatory were reasonably decorated, but the decor was very tired.
The evening menu was extremely basic and boring. We ate elsewhere!!! Marston's haven't put much thought into their hotel being in a prime position in Wales.St. Davids is a hive of activity in the summer. Local produce, like fish or crab, or even cawl would have been nice.
Our room (no 6) was really awful. I feel the hotel can't possibly be achieving 3 stars regarding the sleeping arrangements. Marston's, you really need to wake up. We had a constant smell of drains in our room. The carpet was dirty. although I could see that the staff had done their best to try and hoover it. The walls in our room were in desperate need of painting. The bathroom window was old and dirty. We had to keep the blind down as there was no frosted glass, and you could be seen undertaking your ablutions from the car park. There was no towel rail, although there was a notice in the bathroom telling you to keep towels on the rail if you didn't want the washed!! The towels, however, were fresh and clean. The radiator in the bathroom was dirty and rusty. The toilet was very close to the wall, so you had to sit on it sideways. The tap in the sink was so close to the sink that you couldn't put your hands under it to wash your hands properly. The only saving grace with rm 6 was that the beds were comfortable
I have stayed in St. Davids several times, and it is a shame that a large conglomerate like Marston's should treat paying customers with such disdain.
I would like to suggest to Marston's that you either sell this lovely looking hotel to somebody that can present it as a place that guests want to come back to. Or invest in it to make it worthy of the fantastic City of St David's pembrokeshire.
Ann.
Close to town center
Breakfast not too impressive
Breakfasts were good, served in the conservatory
Lovely staff, lovely lounge, games room, altogether very welcoming and home to home atmosphere
Paint on purple wall needed touching up
Great location, cozy rooms, friendly staff
Nothing
Very convenient nice pub bit closes very early.
Early closing
The hotel is very close to the centre of St David's and within walking distance of the cathedral. It is easy to find and has plenty of parking spaces and a delightful garden. The restaurant/pub offers good food at reasonable prices.
There was nothing much not to like but the paintwork and carpets seemed very chipped and worn.
Goed eten
Lekker bedje
Ruime parkeer gelegenheid
De kraaien in de bomen die heel de nacht door zitten te kwijken
Staff brilliant, couldn't have done anything more for us.
Nothing really, just some areas are a bit tired.
Great location, staff and hotel
