The desk staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
No hot choices in breakfast fare.
Upbeat. Fun atmosphere. Staff are quirky and vey helpful. Good value for the money. Despite issues with this stay I would stay again.
Air conditioning didn’t work during 4 day stay. Patio was being redone. Disappointed because the patio is one of the best features. Breakfast is minimal
Moderne inrichting en goede service.
De parkeerkosten waren erg hoog.
Great location and we loved the outside space and activities.
Breakfast could improve
Great location for getting around Portland, and good value.
A few facilities were unavailable during our visit such as the patio. Our AC didn’t work, and our friends staying in a different room had a similar problem and chambered rooms. (We didn’t ask because it was cool enough outside and windows opened.) We had teenagers in our group and it was unfortunate that the game lounge was closed. Overall it was fine, but I’d probably not return despite the friendliness of the staff.
Very pleasant hotel five short blocks west to the Willamette River, and for this stay, over the July 4th holiday, this meant the Waterfront Blues Festival and the fireworks at night. In the other direction, even fewer steps to Portland's South Park Blocks fo walks under the elms and to the museum district.
We had an amazing stay at The Hotel Zags and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Portland!
The hotel is modern, stylish, and exceptionally clean. Our room was beautifully designed, very comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, and it was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully planned to make guests feel at home.
Parking is conveniently located right in front of the hotel and costs $43 per day, which made it very easy for us to come and go.
One of our favorite features was the lobby. It offers so many fun complimentary activities, including classic arcade games, and guests can also borrow bicycles, a PlayStation, and even scooters. It’s a unique touch that makes the hotel stand out and adds so much to the overall experience.
The staff were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. The location is another big advantage—it’s in a quiet, peaceful area while still being convenient for exploring Portland.
Breakfast was simple but fresh and delicious, with everything we needed to start the day.
Overall, The Hotel Zags exceeded our expectations. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay, and we’re confident we’ll be back on our next visit to Portland!
I liked everything
The lobby and out door area where really nice.
Lost of games and seating and fire pits, the smores were fun!
We noticed the room was a little warm and stuffy when we arrived, turned on the AC (or so we thought) went out to do a little sight seening and came back room was still stuffy. We thought .maybe we just didnt understand how to work the thermostat and went to the front desk. We were they were having some issues, but to keep it on, open the window and they would send up a fan.
The AC was loud, tbe fan helped but it was still pretty stuffy, on the second night we noticed a rat just outside our open window with no screen - so that wasnt very comforting - then on checkout overheard an employee talking with another guest, the AC had been out for several days and was in the process of being repaired.
Overall the place seemed clean enough but when we plugged things in noticed random chargers and hair ties left behind by other guests.
The free continental breakfast was VERY basic and only included milk and coffee.
It wasn't an awful experience, but it wasn't a great one either - definitely not worth thr cost.
Amenities like the free bikes, the games
Free breakfast was very lacking. Not enough wait staff. Trash receptacles were spilling over.
Rooms were ok. Was charged parking but then parking lot was full. Parking outside was a bit of a hassle.
Everything
Nothing
People were super friendly and the place was awesome
Si muy bonito
El parking
Clean/comfortable room. Great place for families or just anyone looking for a low key place to stay. Plenty places to just hang out. Free games and sports equipment to borrow. Free smores at night.
Kind of away from the bars and louder parts of DT Portland, but still within walking distance.
I normally park off site to save money, and because a lot of hotels use off site parking lots anyway. This time I just used the hotel parking which is actually underneath the hotel and fully secured. It actually ended up being a good decision. Was really nice to be able to go straight up to the room after a long trip the first night and a long day of hiking the second night.
