Location very convenient to Public Gardens, Dalhousie Univ., Spring Garden Road.
Pleasant (quiet) restaurant with good service.
Large, overstuffed pillows on bed very uncomfortable.
The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Halifax and has a beautiful lobby and restaurant. The rooms are modern and clean. (Although the shower curtains seemed to be too short for the tubs.) The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
Excellent older property that is very well maintained. Staff were very good and we felt very comfortable staying here.
Great location, old school atmosphere, and very nice room.
Very nice old-style hotel with modern amenities. The atmosphere was very charming and the staff was always extremely helpful and courteous.
Excellent location, a convenient in-house pub, comfortable beds, and very clean accommodations.
Parking costs an additional fee.
It was our first visit to Halifax and I'm glad we stayed at The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites! Everything in this hotel was excellent and world-class. The room and common areas such as hallways and lobby were super clean and meticulously taken care of every day. All staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Its location is very central and easy to reach all the main sightseeing places. We'll definitely use it again!
It’s closeness to everything around.
They seem to have put the prices way up because of a weekend that there was a lot of things going on. I’ve stayed there numerous times before and it wasn’t near as much money.
We've never stayed in such a quaint elegant hotel perfectly located. The staff was on top of things quiet for sleeping very lovely.
A beautiful, quaint, hotel that has everything. Up to date, quiet rooms and a lovely staff.
Great location and beautiful hotel.
Food was excellent and the rooms and decor are beautiful. Loved the parking availability below the hotel and available even before check-in was helpful.
Nice hotel and Harris, the Bellman was ex optional. Parking garage was clean and felt safe. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet.
Check is at 3pm and we couldn't get our room until after 4pm. We received 3 complimentary drinks for our inconvenience so at least they tried to make amends for our wait. Problem was, we had dri en from Ontario and were meeting friends and the delay made us late. We are 3 adults sharing a room and room was set up for 2 i.e only 2 mugs and 2 waters. We me toned this to the front desk and were told we could pick them up later instead of them taking them to our room. We left a note for housekeeping and they subsequently provided 3 waters but did not provide an extra mug.
While the Lord Nelson Hotel is a few blocks from the Halifax waterfront, it is located in a bustling little shopping and dining area. Step out the door, walk around the corner and you're on Spring Garden Road with a variety of ethnic restaurants (including Italian, Turkish, Korean, Thai, Indian, Mexican and even Ukrainian), fast food, coffee shops and pubs. Across the street is the beautiful Halifax Public Garden with large shade trees, pond and bandstand. Across the street from that is the historic Camp Hill Cemetery and about two blocks away is the Citadel National Historic Site.
Pulling up in front of the hotel, a bellman welcomed us, took our bags and gave us a key card for the underground parking garage right next to the hotel. An elevator from the parking garage dropped us directly into the lobby. The lobby of the hotel grabs your attention right away with its high ceilings, marble floors and glass chandeliers. Check-in was smooth and it took no time to get to our 3rd Floor room. We had an interior room which lacked any view, but it was extremely quiet since there was no road noise outside our window. There is a daily parking charge, but we opted for the Park and Stay package
The room was not large but had the usual amenities such as coffee maker, refrigerator, flatscreen TV, desk and desk chair, wifi, a single upholstered chair and a king bed.
We opted for a full hot breakfast in their restaurant one of the two morning we were there which was very good with good sized portions. The next day we were in a hurry to get on the road so we opted for Tim Horton's around the corner.
We would definitely recommend this hotel because it was more in the "city proper" rather than down on the touristy waterfront. Although we did walk down there a couple of times - about a 10 minute walk, 15 if you meander your way down.
Nice view of public gardens. Clean spacious room. Beautiful charming lobby. Friendly staff. Onsite parking available for a charge. Great location, short walk to waterfront area.
Beautiful hotel with caring and attentive staff that helped make our week and milestone anniversary celebration in Halifax special and memorable. When the staff heard of our reason for visiting, we were given a handwritten card, wine, chocolate, and travel resources. Our particular room was comfortable and was a nice place to relax after busy days. Very convenient location with walking distance to many amenities and easy driving access to anything we wanted to see. Will absolutely stay again and will recommend this hotel to others.
Generous sized room, good amenities and an ideal location.
