I wanted to like this hotel because the room itself appeared to be recently renovated, but my overall experience left me feeling unsettled.
The biggest issue happened at check-in. The front desk employee announced my room number out loud while handing me my key, despite there being a line of guests standing directly behind me. As a solo traveler, that made me very uncomfortable. Guest privacy and safety should be taken more seriously, and room numbers should never be announced publicly.
Unfortunately, the rest of my stay didn't improve my first impression. The front desk employee was not friendly or welcoming, making the check-in experience feel cold and uninviting.
While my room had been updated, the rest of the hotel felt dated. The lobby had a noticeable wet dog smell, and the hallways were filled with an overpowering artificial fragrance that seemed to be masking other odors.
The complimentary breakfast was, without question, one of the most disappointing hotel breakfasts I've experienced. The "hot" food consisted of pre-packaged items sealed in plastic and left sitting in warming trays. Even airline food is more appetizing. The milk was shelf-stable with an expiration date in April 2027, which was surprising to see at a hotel breakfast. There were no fresh pastries and not even a waffle maker—something that's become a standard offering at many budget hotels.
The renovated room was the one positive aspect of my stay, but it wasn't enough to outweigh the uncomfortable check-in experience, the odors throughout the hotel, and the disappointing breakfast. I left feeling disappointed and would not choose to stay here again.
Location is perfect for me since im working back to back in nearby area. Iv been this hotel plenty of times (will definitely coming back soon) wonderful staffs ive met every time Im there never failed to go beyond my expectations and needs. Faye, the overnight agent always smiles and gives me wonderful vibe whenever I came back from work; Julius, morning agent, gave me a wonderful room, is very accommodating and friendly; as well as Lily Ann, most of the time who checks me in always give me a warm welcome as well as their GM Miss Jasmine is the best. Definitely keep coming back to this hotel!
Good for a short stay. Judging by the elevator, the hotel isn't new. But the room looks recently renovated. It was quite large, clean and very quiet. Nice front desk. Standard Fairfield breakfast.
We booked a 4 night stay and checked out early for several reasons. The positive is that the bed was very comfortable. The road noise from our room was extremely loud - recommend asking for a room that is not facing the road. The hotel is in need of re-painting. The hotel lobby was being renovated when we arrived, which led to having to take the elevator from the 4th floor to the 2nd floor and then walking down to the first floor, due to the renovations. The disappointing part is that management did not notify us before our arrival to tell us we would not be able to access the front lobby, which required us to carry our luggage up the outside stairs to access the lobby.
Our room had a large water stain on the wall. The worst part, which was not the hotel's fault but we received no warning was the road work that was done our final night there that was done all night, including jack hammering. It woke me up. We checked out the next morning.
I do NOT recommend this hotel due to the renovations needed to make this the quality of other Marriott hotels. The elevators are in need of painting and the rooms need repair, which affected cleanliness. The price for the room was reasonable. The location was good. We did not eat breakfast so not familiar with the amenities.
I stayed here alone as a female guest, and I had a very unsettling experience. While I was in my room, a random man unlocked the door and walked in without knocking. It was extremely alarming. When I called the front desk, I was told he was part of housekeeping and “didn’t know the room was occupied.” That explanation doesn’t make sense. My room had been switched to a different floor due to renovations, and the manager—who checked me in—specifically asked that same employee to check the room beforehand to confirm it was clean and unoccupied. He confirmed that it was. Given that, it’s very concerning that someone was still able to access my room while I was inside, especially knowing I was alone. This was a serious breach of privacy and safety, and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable. To make matters worse, I was offered 10,000 Marriott points as compensation, which I never received—and it has now been over three weeks. If you are a woman traveling alone, I would strongly reconsider staying here. Honestly, based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
We had a few concerns about the Fairfield on arrival, and as we headed to our rooms. A few things were rough around the edges, due to some ongoing work, and the hallway smelled like a potpourri bomb had exploded. However, the rooms were excellent, clean, and comfortable.
The only problem with our room is that the shower was draining slowly, which they fixed right away. Breakfast was the standard free buffet. Nothing too exciting, but decent, and the fitness room was fairly well equipped. We would stay there again.
This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had... this hotel is truly disgusting... I understand they're under renovation, but one elevator is out of order, we have to wait a long time for an elevator and for the construction workers to get out of them, the rooms are clean but the furniture is damaged, the breakfast looks visibly disgusting, and the employees seem to be mistreated by the manager. I can't understand how this hotel is operating under the Marriott name.
This is a very outdated hotel, in bad need of multiple upgrades. The panel in the one working elevator was literally hanging off the wall.
Housekeeping services are only available EVERY OTHER DAY! For 2 people, we received 3 washcloths for a 48 hour period? I asked multiple times for extra linen, which was refused rudely, each time!
The staff was not welcoming or helpful in any way. The chair (which is threadbare) and lamps in our room are probably 20+ years old. The outlets by the bed are so loose and old that phone chargers will barely work. You have to prop the cord at the exact right angle for them to work.
The bathroom needs to be updated as well. The base of the toilet is dirty and the tub has an old plastic liner in the bottom.
The WiFi doesn’t work, so no streaming on the TV!!
The price and the breakfast here, are probably the only good point. I would advise that you spend a few more dollars and go down the road!!
despite the exterior, the interior and all the appliances, bed , hvac, etc are all very dated and in various states of disrepair.
Paper thin walls, mold everywhere, tub took forever to drain after a shower (not even a bath). Looks like the hotel is being upgraded but I don’t think that will fix the issue of walls being paper thin. Likely won’t be staying here again when I travel for work. I am actively hearing the full conversation of the people in the room next to me and they’re speaking at a normal volume.
I would not recommend staying at this Fairfield Inn in Parsippany, NJ. While the room and location were acceptable and the breakfast was average, the overall experience was very disappointing.
The hotel itself is older and in poor shape, and much of it is under construction. Housekeeping was inconsistent—I confirmed at check-in that I wanted daily service, yet my room was skipped two days in a row. When I raised the issue, the front desk informed me that housekeeping must be requested every day in advance, something that was never explained upon arrival. As a result, I went without fresh towels or coffee unless I went to the desk to ask. On top of that, the only in-room coffee pods available were decaf, which seems like a basic oversight.
Other frustrations included only one slow elevator, which often caused delays. I'm a Marriott Platinum Elite member, but there was no recognition of my Rewards membership level. These issues combined made for a poor experience. I visit this area often for work, but will be avoiding this hotel in the future.
Clean room, near lots of great restaurants.
parking is convenient
Good room .. ok for price
Everything great
For the past 25 years, this was our "go to" hotel in Parsippany mainly because my sister lives nearby. We have stayed here more than a dozen times and watched this once upon a time beautiful (well managed) hotel go downhill... it has changed management, remodelled/renovated, turnover of employees, changed breakfast menus, etc...
The hotel as of this writing is currently undergoing what seems like extensive renovation (about time!!!). First off, management needs to address the ever dripping trinkling water smack right in its front entrance. Second, there is only 1 old elevator working and its time for 2 brand new elevators. Third, desperately need to hire a professional window washer company. The exterior windows are extremely cruddy; obviously have not been maintained for years. The computer in the lobby is pathetic and you have to stand (reception couldn't even get it to work) while trying to print our boarding pass. There is a nice business section area with desks not being utilized - management needs to buy 2 new computers and 2 chairs (for business' sake, they're cheap now!)
On the bright side, thank goodness my room was clean and comfortable although I was assigned a room located next to the elevator. My room was equipped with a microwave and small fridge (that actually gets cold). Bathroom was clean. Linens are crisp/clean, fresh bright white towels. This is all what matters to me. There's an ice machine next to the elevator. During our stay, breakfast was very well stocked & sufficient. Front desk folks were attentive.
Perhaps, give them time to fix and renovate and hopefully this hotel will look spiffy once again!
Great
Very convenient to highway
They are in the middle of renovations so it wasn’t as clean and functioning as it should be. One elevator instead of two. Toilets flushed very slow.
Property appears to be a little beat up, but they might be in the middle of some updates.
