Early morning noise kill the stay.
Pros:

I stayed at the hotel last weekend. This is a beautiful hotel in the heart of the city, so why give it only two stars? Because on Monday morning, I didn’t need to get up early, I am retired, no plane to catch, etc. But around 4:40 in the morning, all I heard is beep, beep, beep of a truck picking up the garbage. So I start to fall back to sleep, but at 5:50 in the morning, the delivery truck is outside my window with guys talking and moving stuff. I know both of these things need to be done, but I believe this room and the other rooms located near by need to be a greatly reduced rate, say 50% for this inconvenience. So if you stay here, don’t accept a room from around 122-130 or maybe the floors above those rooms.

Pros:

Room location was partially unsatisfactory. It was too close to the elevator where people congregated waiting for others. Also, one night a very large group of people were standing and sitting listening to music by a guest playing a guitar. They were laughing, talking, singing, clapping - you get the idea. Noisy. My husband called the front desk and they were dispersed. Also, I was told I wouldn't be charge for that night, but was. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and loved Santa Fe.

A beautiful, landmark hotel in the heart of old Sante Fe. Ambience and service were excellent, with the feel of cared for in a special, classic location

Disappointing.
Pros:

There were some wonderful things about La Fonda. The room was immaculately clean and the location was perfect. The artwork was lovely and historical. My issue was the postage sized rooms. There was nowhere comfortable to sit. A desk chair and a leather strapped chair that sank all the way to the floor. The shower could strip paint from a wall and very awkward. There is no door except an immovable glass wall and in order to turn it on you must enter the shower head on - so you will get soaked before finding comfortable temperature. There are no towel racks only hooks and just two. No place to set toiletries. The room is filled with oversized furniture. Staff was ok. Kevin helped us with an issue. Valet staff was excellent, especially Ishmael. Not likely to return. And don’t book room 120. There’s a refrigerator truck permanently parked outside your window.

We enjoyed our stay and loved the view from our balcony. We had the most fun here in Golden! We would come back again!
Pros:

We loved our stay. The property is perfectly located in the heart of Golden. The restaurant served excellent food!

Cons:

The only thing that could have been improved was the quality of the pillows on the bed. The pillows were lumpy and when I asked for more pillows, there was only one more on sight and it too was lumpy 😬

An “Elevated” Experience
Pros:

My wife and I enjoyed a portion of our honeymoon here. The atmosphere and history were special and singular. However, this kind of atmosphere has its drawbacks, as we occasionally felt condescended to by the staff. La Fonda benefits from its creative, culturally rich roots; La Fonda also seems to sacrifice some of that personality in an effort to present as a high-class destination.

Still charming
Pros:

I remember being at the LaFonda 50 years ago. How things have changed since then--but also how they haven't! The hotel is still charming and historic and within walking distance to everything. I loved seeing all of the pictures and artwork throughout the hotel. It was a great experience.
