Really nothing! I have a service dog, a full medical service dog not a pet, and the room we were first put in had water leak in the floor. The floor was soaking wet when you stepped on it water oozed out of the grout line of the fake tile., so was moldy, and we have breathing issues. So I went to the front desk and they showed us another room which felt like I was sleeping in a dog kennel instead of me having a regular room it felt like it was so sterile and smelt of dog.. given I understand but a service dog is a very well kept Animal and I felt as if they were placing us in a room that was a dog kennel. So I asked to see another room and they showed me that one little better. I had color decor to it, but was not what I expected from the La Quinta. I stayed in the past I asked to go up a floor and he explained that all pet floors were on the first floor, which obviously were there worst rooms. I feel as if I was not respected as a human that I was placed in a pet kennel because of my service animal.
Everything about that room was needing updated. The sink faucet was loose. There was hair in the bathtub when we got there human hair., there were chips, all along the walls the panels the beds if you rolled over because of the metal they use around the base of the bed made this thunder sound. I just really was not happy. I just will probably not choose La Quinta again.
Location
The bed itself was clean. The pillows were nice.
Reception- the reception person spoke quickly and very robotically. There was no smile or warmth.
Room dirty. Tub dirty. Not much toilet . Someone’s long hair strand was on the tub itself. A wet washcloth was tucked in the shower curtain. The remote felt sticky. The desk was the same. If you don’t like Small hard biscuits with some gravy over it there wasn’t much to offer for breakfast.. small pre- formed scrambled egg that felt like a hockey puck. There was nothing to go with it. There were tiny yogurts and the juice machine was broken.
The area
Room 316 cable didn't work and when I turned on the air conditioner it made a loud continuous screaming noise. I went down to the front desk to let them know. I just requested for another room which they were happy to switch rooms.
Location close to Grandview hospital
The breakfast selection was very good
Good
Clean & comfortable water was good & hot.
Lobby bathroom wasnt as clean
after discovering the condition of the property and my room, I no longer felt safe staying at your hotel.
The issues I encountered included:
* The rear entrance had tape placed over the door latch, preventing it from locking and leaving the building unsecured.
* The ground-floor window in my room would not lock, meaning my room could not be properly secured.
* Groups of people gathered directly outside my window drinking beer and smoking late into the evening. When I expressed my concerns to the front desk, I was told not to worry because they were “just workers blowing off steam.” That response did not address my legitimate safety concerns.
* The area outside my room was littered with cigarette butts, bottle caps, and trash the following morning.
* The shower curtain rod was bent so badly that the shower curtain continually fell into the tub around my feet, creating a potential tripping hazard.
* The bathroom door had splintered wood that had been covered with clear tape instead of being properly repaired.
Before discovering these issues, I had agreed to extend my stay, and my card was immediately charged an additional $100. Once I realized the condition of the property and the lack of basic security, I decided I could not remain there.
I have photographs documenting these conditions. My expectation when staying at any hotel is that entrances and windows lock properly, the room is maintained in a safe condition, and guest safety concerns are taken seriously. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Been there I believe four times. The place is one of the greatest in Birmingham.
5 stars
There was nothing I didn't like.
Convenient, I could get to the hospital in minutes, plenty of restaurants to choose from
Room quiet, a/c cooled well. Easy ride to work (good location)
No ice on any floor but 2nd. Card key didn't work most of the time without alot of hassle. Shower out of body shampoo. Breakfast ran out of food. Shower handle for faucet was nearly falling off. Bed frame squeaked a lot if I wiggled or moved.
