We loved our stay at the Hoxton Southwark! We have stayed at the Holborn and Shepherd’s Bush locations but we absolutely loved the rooftop bar and the vibe of the place in Southwark! We will definitely stay again.
The AC could have been better. There was also a lightbulb out and the curtains there was a small gap which meant it wasn’t a complete blackout room.
Dreadful experience - really appalling service and care. I was due to stay here for a week, but after two days had to rush home as my husband went into A&E and had to have emergency surgery. I paid for the 24 hours notice but thought there would be no question that they would understand and refund me after that. They asked for medical evidence - when he was still in hospital and so I then had to show my private messages with my husband scared in hospital, about to go into surgery. It was all shocking but I went through it, if they needed proof to not charge me for a room I obviously couldn’t use. They had to accept he was of course in hospital but still wouldn’t refund me. I left in tears. Awful. They are a massive hotel group, what a way to treat a guest going through an emergency. Are they that desperate for money? Short term policy as I will not recommend this group to anyone. There are many fabulous, caring hotels in London. Avoid this one. The customer care is non-existent.
The location was good in the Southwark area, close to the Thames River. The hotel lobby and bar area, the rooms, and the sky terrace are very pretty and I would imagine that people like to instagram themselves in the hotel restaurant and lobby.
Feels very Gen Z - for those who prefer figuring things out through QR codes instead of having a friendly host. Poor service, no concierge, no help with luggage unless you ask for it, no gym. The rooms are very small and there is no room for luggage. Upper half of a closet for storing your clothes. Not a great place for family and kids, especially if you are visiting London for the first time. A "concept" hotel which assumes you don't spend much time in your room and are highly self sufficient.
Cool vibes, heel vriendelijk personeel, ligging
The room was a good size and comfortable. It was quiet and had a good bathroom
No minibar and no gym. Felt very no frills compared to others in this price range like the Ned.
Location. Vibe. Rooftop bar
Rooftop restaurant and bar closed for the night. One of the main reasons for booking this hotel
I visited the Hoxton, Southwark, for a couple of nights last week. Found the service hit or miss, although the rooms are comfortable and very well maintained. Food is great in Albie and the downstairs bar is nice to hang out in. The rooftop restaurant, Seabird, was - without a doubt - a disappointing experience, however - my first visit this trip (have been before) resulted in me being turned away as it was apparently too busy and 'the staff were overwhelmed'. This was 3pm in the afternoon and there were several free tables and a number of staff milling around. As a guest I thought it a bit odd - I only wanted a drink in the sunshine and said so. No wriggle room - it was suggested I 'come back in an hour' to see if things had improved. Not satisfied (and quite flustered), I visited the reception and spoke to Asher, the Customer Services Manager. He sorted it out immediately, although I was a bit embarrassed going back and being seated 🥴. Would have been 100x better if the chap who rejected me the first time (and who I saw later that evening when visiting for dinner and the following morning at breakfast) perhaps acknowledged the situation to make amends. He wasn't in any way 'off' with me but wasn't welcoming in any way. An unnecessary blip in what was otherwise a good experience that afternoon and later that evening. To compound things, messages I sent regarding my dinner bookings remained unanswered and - when I visited Seabird personally to check - the woman at the front desk acknowledged the messages were there and simply hadn't been answered (this was 24th + later). Service at breakfast appears disorganised and my lasting impression is that some staff are really 'on it' while others clearly don't give a toss. Perhaps they need more consistency here? Lessons to be learned...and Asher was a god-send in recovering what would otherwise make me think twice about booking again.
Location and the roof top restaurant
It smells of sewerage. We had move to another room
Great vibe and you’ll love the rooftop bar/restaurant. Amazing food and they served our favourite gin! Thanks for a relaxing mini-break!
Cleanliness and location.
The lobby was small and very busy.
