We have just returned from an unforgettable family stay at the Grand Hotel et de Milan, and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

We traveled to Milan with three generations of our family, ranging from young adults to grandparents in their 80s, and the Grand Hotel et de Milan could not have been a more perfect home for us.

The hotel itself is beautiful—historic, elegant, sophisticated and wonderfully located—but what truly distinguishes it is the people.

The Concierge Team was simply phenomenal. They helped us coordinate a fairly complicated family trip involving Lake Como, a private boat, drivers, Bellagio, San Siro, restaurants, changing schedules and numerous last-minute requests. Every detail was handled with extraordinary professionalism, patience and warmth. Somehow, with a large multigenerational family moving in different directions, they made everything feel effortless. Because they took care of the logistics so beautifully, we were free to do what mattered most: enjoy Milan and enjoy being together.

The personal hospitality throughout our stay was equally remarkable. Stefano Donato and the hotel team made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for, with thoughtful gestures and surprises that went far beyond what one ordinarily expects—even at a five-star hotel.

One detail particularly resonated with us. We learned that the Grand Hotel et de Milan is an independent luxury hotel that has remained in the same family for three generations. As we were there celebrating Milan with three generations of our own family, there was something wonderfully fitting about that connection. Perhaps it also explains the hotel’s unusual warmth: this feels less like a corporate luxury property and more like a great hotel with a soul.

We stayed at a beautiful hotel, but what we will remember most is how the Grand Hotel et de Milan made us feel.

Our family left with extraordinary memories of Milan, Lake Como, wonderful meals and countless adventures—and this hotel and its exceptional team became an important part of those memories.

There are hotels you enjoy, and there are hotels you genuinely look forward to returning to.

For our family, the Grand Hotel et de Milan is unquestionably the latter.

Loved the staff and decor of the inside of the hotel. The staff were so helpful and friendly as well, Rooms was large/spacious. good location

The Grand Hotel et de Milan is a truly special hotel—historic, elegant, charming, and located in one of the best possible spots in Milan. You can walk to the Duomo, the Galleria, La Scala, Via Montenapoleone, and many of the city’s best restaurants and shops within minutes, yet the hotel itself feels remarkably peaceful and removed from the crowds.

The property has a sense of history and character that cannot be manufactured. This is not a generic luxury hotel that could be located in any major city. The beautiful public rooms, traditional furnishings, historic details, and slightly old-world atmosphere give it a personality all its own. Giuseppe Verdi famously lived here for many years, and that history remains a meaningful part of the hotel’s identity.

Jerry’s Bar also became one of our favorite places during the stay, largely because of Alessandro, the bartender. He is warm, engaging, professional, and exceptionally good at what he does. He remembered our preferences, made excellent recommendations, and created the kind of relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to return every evening. He is a tremendous asset to the hotel.

The concierge team and doormen were equally impressive. They were polished without being stiff, consistently helpful, and always seemed genuinely pleased to see us. Whether arranging transportation, offering restaurant guidance, or simply helping us navigate the city, they provided the type of gracious and attentive service one hopes to receive at a hotel of this caliber.

Our stay was not entirely without some glitches. A few unexpected issues arose, as they occasionally will during any extended trip. What ultimately distinguished the Grand Hotel et de Milan, however, was how those problems were handled.

General Manager Alfredo Petrone personally took the matters to heart. He listened carefully, accepted responsibility where appropriate, addressed every issue directly, and made certain that the resolutions were both meaningful and complete. His generosity in resolving the situation honestly surprised even us.

We travel frequently and have stayed in many excellent hotels throughout Europe and elsewhere. Experience has taught us that even the finest properties will occasionally encounter a problem. The real measure of a hotel is not whether something unexpected happens, but how its leadership responds when it does. Mr. Petrone handled everything with professionalism, grace, urgency, and genuine concern—in spades.

Because of him, and because of the exceptional staff throughout the hotel, we left with a very positive impression and would gladly return. The Grand Hotel et de Milan offers an extraordinary location, fascinating history, genuine charm, and—most importantly—a team that truly cares about its guests.

Great location in the heart of Milan. We got the chance to stay in one of the renovated rooms and it is very very nice. Stefano, his staff and concierge are super helpful. It is the best hotel we have stayed during our long European trip.
