Expérience mitigée. Très bel hôtel pour aller prendre un verre ou dîner mais pour pour y dormir.
Pros:

Le service impeccable niveau palace. Magnifique hôtel datant de 1901 où on ressent avec émotion notre histoire liée à celle du Vietnam. Literie confortable et climatisation silencieuse. Excellent petit déjeuner avec beaucoup de choix sous forme de buffet.

Cons:

Nous avions réservé une chambre double Premium dans l’aile opéra qui est actuellement en réfection. Nous avons donc été relogées dans l’aile historique qui mériterait aussi une rénovation notamment concernant l’isolation. Notre chambre donnait sur la rue et il est nécessaire de dormir avec des boules quies pour couvrir le bruit de la rue et des chariots de service qui passent dans le couloir. Par ailleurs nous étions au 1ere étage au dessus du restaurant dont nous avions les odeurs de cuisine. Nous avons bénéficié d’une remise de l’équivalent de 30€ suite à notre complainte à ce sujet. En chambre , à part le café et le Thé, les boissons non alcoolisées de type soda et bières ne sont pas gratuites contrairement à la majorité des hôtels 5 étoiles au Vietnam. Pour finir la rénovation de l’aile opéra entraîne une odeur très désagréable de peinture et solvant quand on est autour de la piscine.

Great hotel to stay with lots of History
Pros:

One of the best hotels in terms of architecture and decor. Awesome service , room quality and support .
They gave me an heritage room and on equity stated that for my booking laundry till 3 clothes are free but anyway charged the same on the bill. They apologized and said will look into the same but yet to get a feedback .

Heritage Elegance with Charm
Pros:

We stayed at a Grand Luxury Room, in end July 2026 and the room exudes a refined sense and blend of colonial heritage and contemporary five‑star comfort, with spacious interiors, elevated service privileges.

Sitting in the historic Heritage Wing, the interiors balance French colonial sensibility with Vietnamese touches: dark wood furniture, hardwood floors, neutral tones, and period details such as a teak ceiling fan, lacquer boxes with sweets, and blue‑and‑white porcelain accents. Superb!

The Art Deco–style marble bathroom, featuring a walk‑in shower and a modern Japanese washle, together with a pull-out stylized mini-fridge cladded in orange with unique lighting was delightful.

The welcome snacks, drinks, small gifts and fruits were interesting as it portrayed the seasons and flavor of the month and a sense of personalized care. Thoughtful along with a great turn down each evening!

Our bed was lush, exceptionally comfortable, with a pillow menu available to tailor support and firmness. Soundproofing is strong, contributing to a quiet, restful atmosphere even in a central location in Hoan Kiem area.

So over 2 mornings, we got a genuinely bicultural breakfast rather than a generic international buffet:

French/European side: viennoiserie (croissants, pain au chocolat), artisan breads, smoked salmon, charcuterie, cheeses, eggs Benedict variants, ricotta pancakes, French toast. Nice!

Vietnamese side: pho (beef, chicken, vegetarian), rice porridge, banh cuon, banh mi, fresh spring rolls, green papaya salad, grilled fish, fried rice, noodle soups, and even egg coffee and I tasted the Ban Be Be, a Halong bay delight with mantis shrimp.
Love it!

We started the day with a light, European-style pastry-and-coffee ritual and also a hearty, local bowl of pho and herbs—both executed at a high level. We enjoyed the flavorful smoked salmon and cheeses, along with a well-made eggs Benedict, pancakes, and French toast, fresh juices, smoothies, and a good coffee program which we especially like which is the Vietnamese coffee (black or with condensed milk), and a range of teas; i had earl grey of course!
