A fabulous hotel. Great location. Staff really friendly. Food delicious. I especially liked the shuttle to Mandela Square - really useful. The shoe shine guy was brilliant- we had been on safari & he cleaned our shoes on our return & they were like new.
Check in (and out) was frustratingly slow. Reception staff were lovely but I honestly don’t know why it took so long.
One complaint is that the hotel booked us a taxi to take us to the airport & it broke down on the way there. Luckily I had good service on my phone and I was able to book an uber who picked us up within minutes & got us to the airport on time. It was very stressful. I emailed the hotel about it & asked for a refund but so far they have still not contacted me. I would have thought they would use reputable taxis but our driver told us the car had not been serviced for 3 years & it had been playing up for a while. The driver was very apologetic.

Some individuals were pleasant and delivered solid service.
The service was inconsistent. Some individuals were excellent, others abrupt and impatient.
There were clear operational challenges, as multiple times we were told one thing by reception (eg your meals will be added to your bill), to then be told the opposite by another department (restaurant staff required payment in situ, saying reception was wrong). This resulted in numerous uncessary conversations and explanations as we helped staff communicate and sort themselves out.
There were admin issues galore. Initially we booked for 3 nights with breakfast - upon arriving we were told there was an error and we only had 2 nights with no breakfast. This meant we had to rebook again for the 3rd night and pay for meals separately. We were charged for the airport shuttle service twice - despite me showing proof of payment. As we were exiting on a deadline to the airport the poor driver needed to get paid to set off, so we ate the duplicate charge in order to get there safely.
This all resulted in a stressful and cumbersome experience which cost us far more than it should have.
During our stay, the hotel was going through renovation and rebranding attempting to elevate itself. These relational and administrative issues matter more than aesthetics if they truly aspire to being a premium experience.
Ultimately we left the hotel to head home feeling annoyed and disappointed. A sad way to wind up a trip. The prices do not align to the service and this was an unnecessarily stressful experience. I wouldn't stay here again.
We booked for the signature three course dinner and amazing is an understatement! The food was beyond excellent and the service even farther. We were blessed to be served by Ms. Boitumelo, who was the most amazing hostess. Attention to detail and customer focused experience is just the beginning. An amazing hostess that takes first class to the next level. We treasure this experience and hope we have the same hostess when we return.
