Great location, typical friendly hotel.
What makes it really great is the great customer service, from valet to front desk.
Marina is simply amazing while juggling multitask and helping several guests, she manages to help and assist with total satisfaction. Other were very helpful as well.
Marina was simply outstanding.
Staff of the Chateau Versailles makes your stay really enjoyable
From valet, housekeeping to front desk, simply great teams.
Great location close to metro station. Cute breakfast room. Comfortable bed. Great room, but noisy.
Our room was next to the kitchen and very noisy starting early in the morning. Earplugs help. Breakfast was very basic.
It was the worst night. It felt like a sauna in the room . you couldn’t breathe.
During our stay my wife sustained an injury at the front door of the hotel. She tripped over the raised threshold and fell headfirst onto the metal grate in the lobby injuring her chest and cutting her finger The receptionist responded immediately, bringing tissues and a first aid kit. There are no signs on either side of the door to warn residents of a trip hazard; the exterior upright of the threshold step is marked by black and yellow tape, but there is no tape on the interior upper surface, meaning there is absolutely nothing to warn someone leaving the building of a step down. Staff requests for warning signs had been ignored. I think that her accident was preventable with adequate signage, and that other guests are currently at risk.
An internal staircase is risky for children and a fire hazard.
Access to handrails on the external stairs was hampered by planters and canopy support, which has changed since the Tripadvisor photo.
There were several problems in the breakfast room; Supplies of coffee, milk, teabags, food items and cutlery ran out, and were only replaced on request. Croissants and jam were poor quality. There was no decaf coffee despite asking. No highchairs available for children. Milk was sometimes served unchilled in an unwieldy cardboard container.
Our room had creaky floorboards, faulty curtains and only one chair. There was no stopper in the hand wash basin. Paint was flaking off the shower cubicle ceiling. The floor tiles in the en-suite were loose and cracked, exposing sharp edges on which my wife cut her toe. Our room door was fitted with non-functioning hinge-type door closers. On the landing next to our room was a descending staircase without fire doors top or bottom, and an unguarded ledge from which a child could easily fall.So not child friendly and dangerous for seniors.
Great location, great antiquated luxury vibe. Comfortable.
No complaints
Location is really good! Breakfast is very simple.
The hair dryer did not work, and nobody was able to assist me when I requested help. Also, the furnace is a bit noisy
They charge my credit card at the check in with 50 $ as deposit.
After that I know they charge the room rate anther time .
I already paid the room rate 3 days before arriving
And they don’t return the deposit until now
Great classic, old room with modern updates. Excellent breakfast.
No hot water in the shower in the morning. I told them about it at the front desk at checkout and they didn’t seem surprised.
This hotel is very simple, clean, nice location.
Hotel has lots of stairs. Not wheelchair accessible.
Breakfast complimentary. Boiled eggs, ham, yogurt, cereal, pastry, canned fruit cocktail, coffee, juices.
Beds and pillows were comfortable.
Fan provided in room.
Complimentary nespresso coffee pods in rooms, fridge.
Water pressure, tap hard to regulate temperature/ flow of water in shower. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash in refillable containers in shower. 2/3 were left empty.
Blackout curtains in rooms.
On main road, access to bus. Close to mcgill university.
Nice view out the window
The tap was leaky
The road noise interrupted my sleep
There wasn't any glassware with breakfast - only unpleasant disposable cups were provided
The room was tiny
A good location to walk downtown. Was clean and tidy, beds comfortable.
Was really warm and the aircon wasn’t that effective. An older hotel, bit dated and quirky.
Located close to McGill and Westmount, this is an Intimate boutique hotel that feels as if you are in Paris. Rooms are generous and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful and the experience includes breakfast which while not extravagant, is enough to get you going on your day! This site has no elevators so be prepared to walk to upstairs to your room.
Location is perfect-a short walk to Crescent street and St Catherine’s and close to some beautiful drives to Mount Royal Park, Westmount and Mount Royal. If you want a cozy vibe away from the hustle of Old Montreal , in a classy neighbourhood, consider this option!
Beautiful building and lovely room
Breakfast was basic but good.
I wasn’t aware that there were no lifts and we had to carry our bags up a lot of stairs.
Only thing I liked about this place was location and free breakfast
Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not a 4-Star Experience
We stayed at Château Versailles in downtown Montreal for our anniversary, combining it with a work trip, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish.
I had made a note on Booking.com and also called two days in advance to confirm our reservation, request early check-in, and ensure everything was in order since it was a special occasion. Despite this, the room we were promised was not available, and the one we were given was in terrible condition.
It took over 40 minutes for the room to be cleaned, and even after that, it was unacceptable. There was hair on the toilet, stained towels, and the carpets were visibly dirty. Paint was chipping from the walls, the caulking around the sink was separating, and the ceiling above the bathtub was peeling—not what you expect from a hotel marketed as a 4-star boutique.
What made it worse was how poorly our anniversary was acknowledged. We received “amenities” well after we checked in: two chocolates and a San Pellegrino—with no thoughtfulness or presentation. It felt like a last-minute afterthought, not a gesture to celebrate an important milestone.
We also brought our small pup, and honestly, the hotel didn’t feel safe or secure enough to leave him alone for even a few minutes. The overall vibe was off, and we felt more stressed than relaxed during our stay.
While I appreciated the vintage architecture and old charm, the execution fell flat. The room was basic, uninspired, and nowhere near the standard of a 4-star hotel. It was not clean, not welcoming, and not worth the price. We were incredibly let down, especially on what was supposed to be a special trip.
Would not recommend.
