We’re celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary in Chicago and had reached out to the hotel the night before to see if there was any way they could make it a little more special for my wife. Natalie and Lily delivered! They set a room aside for us on the 20th floor with a view of the lake and a nice little sweet treat in our room!! Thanks for getting our time in Chicago started right!!

Hotel is dated and now very loud with Tavern on Rush attached. For a four star Hyatt Hotel with $500 plus nightly rate I would expect much better. First off, the a/c heat units blow directly on the bed no matter what position you try to find to get away from the blast of air. I called down to see if all rooms were like this and was told yes and that I could just turn it off. Hello! It’s 90+ degrees outside humid and dangerous air quality levels in Chicago that week. I asked for another blanket so I could cover my head. Second, one of the pillows reeked of urine. I was sickened! I discovered this in The middle of the night when I tried to barricade myself from the cold air blowing on me! I got up and stuffed it in a trash bag I had with me to seal it off. I called yI report I. The morning but they were apologetic but didn’t offer to do anything about it until I expressed my disgust and they said we can give you a credit or change room but I was checking out anyway. They credited $75 dollars! I understood that the credit meant credit. The whole night stay. The standing lamp was tilted and in disrepair and the headboard was cracking and looked dirty. The shower is a rain shower overhead and not very good pressure. Room was decent sized king room. The staff was “meh” and I brought the pillow down to front desk and asked for the manager but they sent a housekeeper first to get the bag and he said he’d throw it away. Then the manager came over and said sorry.

The location is perfect! Design is wonderful, Tavern on Rush on site! Competent, knowledgeable, friendly staff! It was my 4th or 5th stay and I will continue to book it!

Stayed here while visiting family. We got a lake view room which was totally worth it. The view was spectacular. Though the beds are small in room with 2 beds, the beds are very comfortable and linens are quite nice. When we first checked in as a family of 4, we found we only had 3 sets of towels. When I asked Lily at the front desk for more, the rest of the trip we always had what we needed. The restaurant, Tavern on Rush, at the hotel, is also awesome and was one of our favorite meals. While the room is small, it has everything you need and is set up quite comfortably. Also, the hotel itself is in a great location and is tucked away in a quiet adorable little corner - walkable to luxury shops and also the beach - we took advantage of both!
Finally, on our last day, we had planned to check out early but the rental car place had no cars and we had to wait hours 😑 When I called the front desk to tell them of our predicament, Ahmad happily granted us a late check out complimentary!
Also, the guys at the front of the hotel were always smiling and welcoming when we returned from our day out.
These days a lot of hotels get it wrong, but the Thompson Hotel in Chicago gets it right! Would happily stay here again and again.

Great hotel. Courteous customer service in the heart of the city

While staff were very pleasant and nice, their follow-through and speed of response left much to be desired. First of all, a chair in my room was stained in multiple places. I let the front desk know to which they courteously let me know someone would help take care of it. No one ended up coming. Second, I called the front desk twice for slippers, and they again courteously responded each time. After one hour, I ended up going to the front desk and asking a third time. Only after another 30 mins did the slippers come up (total 90 minutes to wait on slippers). Lastly, there was no surprise and delight for globalist guest — snacks, welcome card.

Wonderful stay made even better by the warm welcome every time we walked in or out of the hotel by Myron. Will be back for him alone!!!!!!

All hotels in Chicago were sold out after my flight was cancelled. Ody was awesome helping me secure a room - much appreciated.

Great location in Chicago. We booked 3 rooms for 4 nights and the Skyline Loft Suite for our son’s wedding. The king rooms were good, however, the skyline loft furniture was really beat-up and looked more like a dorm room than an upscale hotel. Overall I would say the suite was average.

Front desk folks (Ody and Ahmad) were very helpful and accommodating. Surrounding area has a great buzz. Easy to walk to shops, lakeshore, etc. Room was clean and spacious.

I’ve had a good experience with Lily, Shawn, and Ahmed. I would definitely come back to this hotel. They were all very friendly and prompt. Thank you for making my experience wonderful. TIL we meet again. From El Paso, TX.

The staff at the Thompson is ready to make you successful. We worked with Adonna to host a client meeting. She and the events team (G, Kim, and Andrew) really went the extra mile to make sure everything was how we wanted it. When we needed some last minute documents printed, Ody got it done for us. Rooms were comfortable. Food was tasty. We’ll definitely use the Thompson again. Thank you.

Location is great. Lots of good shopping and dining nearby. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a 4 star experience. If you’re placed in a room the ends in 11 you will hear the housekeeping/ maintenance door slamming every 5-10 minutes from 6:30-11:30am. It’s a known issue but hotel has not taken steps to correct it. The second room we were in had an extremely loud AC. So check your room number and AC before unpacking. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms felt recently renovated and clean. Staff was very kind and nice, but felt like there should have been better service when it came to help with luggage, doormen, and valet

It was a wonderful 3 day stay. Sean at the desk was very helpful. Attending to all my needs. Ody was wonderful as well. She answered many questions for me. Really all your staff made me feel so comfortable. The door men helped with my luggage and bikes keeping all stored and safe. Beautiful hotel at amazing location. Loved the views!
