Great location, comfortable rooms with nice outlook
A little bit dated
The location is awesome, everything is right on your doorstep.
The rooms are underwhelming to say the least, very outdated. The beds push away from the wall very easy which is strange and the beds are also very small. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly, there was hair in the bath / shower. Overall the bathrooms are in average condition, cracks through the basin, stained bath tub, etc. The rooms are lacking in providing added comfort - mini bar isn’t stocked, no slippers, no nice handwash, soaps etc none of the little things you might find in the bathroom that give a nice touch. Also, there was only one plug on the far side of the bed (two beds) so meant you couldn’t easily access things on charge from the bed. Missing bedside table. The balcony had no chairs so you couldn’t sit outside and enjoy the view. For the price of the hotel, I would hope for more.

Staff were professional, friendly and accommodating
The handbasin in room 232 is cracked, and it looks like it has been cracked for sometime. The toilet seat is broken. Our room on the second day at 4pm was still not cleaned.
The bar area in the foyer was cold, one small fireplace with 3 chairs, needs improvement.
eedback on our stay – Novotel Queenstown Lakeside
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and the location of the hotel is fantastic. However, there were two areas that left us disappointed and that I believe deserve attention.
Firstly, on Thursday evening, when we returned to our room to have a shower, we found the hot water was only lukewarm. We tried turning the temperature up further, but it appeared to have reached its maximum setting. The water simply would not get any hotter, making the shower quite uncomfortable, particularly on a cold Queenstown winter evening.
My main concern, however, relates to the hotel’s response during the 5.9 magnitude earthquake on the evening of 16 July.
The earthquake struck at around 9:15 pm, on what was likely one of the busiest nights of the week, with the hotel close to full occupancy. During the event, there appeared to be no clear emergency response or direction from staff.
Guests came out of their rooms visibly shaken and unsure what to do. Many gathered outside looking to staff for reassurance and guidance, but staff themselves appeared uncertain. I asked one staff member what we should do, and she honestly replied that she didn’t know.
My family and I were staying on the ground floor, so we immediately moved outside and away from the building. While outside, I noticed an elderly couple making their way down the stairwell. They were too frightened to use the lift, and the final few steps were difficult for them. Thankfully, my nieces were able to help them safely down.
The following morning at checkout, the receptionist asked how our stay had been. I shared my concerns and asked her, “If another earthquake happened right now, would you know what to do?” She replied that she had never been trained and genuinely didn’t know the correct procedure.
I then asked whether she knew what to do in the event of a fire, to which she answered yes. That highlighted the issue for me.

The location was fantastic and staff were nice and helpful.
The hotel is dirty and needs a revamp. The room had bits of salad on floor from previous guests and the breakfast was gross. The tour desk booked us into a tour but then after taking my money couldn't provide the confirmation of sale and we missed our tour and still have not got our money back. The bath must have a blockage because everything you shower the tub fills up above the ankles. It's gross
