Perfect location and very comfy accommodation.
Pros:

Lovely welcoming pub. Excellent room with exceptional attention to detail. Very well equipped. Comfy bed and super shower.

Cons:

Soundproofing was not great but this an old building and it didn’t impinge on our stay.

Pros:

Pleasing location

Cons:

The bathroom. Much money has been spent on a refurbishment. The floor of the shower was grim. I didn't use the shower. The last thing I wanted was a verruca. All that money spent in refurbishment, and the bonus was mould round the window frames.

Lovely stay with great food . The location is superb
Pros:

Lovely location and nice room and the staff and food were fantastic .

Cons:

This wasn’t the fault of the place as everything was lovely but we had extremely noisy neighbours who were enthusiastically either on honeymoon or an extremely romantic weekend the noise travels through the walls snd was quite off putting both most of the night and the following morning so maybe ear plugs would be useful .

Disappointing stay...
Pros:

Location was nice being a quaint village and free ample parking.

Cons:

We arrived around 16.30, had to wait a few mins due to lack of staff. Once checked in we were told food had already stopped being served on the Sunday and wouldn't be serving drinks after 19.00; due to a private function (not mentioned on their website or via any communication through booking.com)

The whole point of choosing this pub with accommodation was so we could celebrate our wedding anniversary, enjoy food/drink and not have to drive anywhere.

We had no option but to look at decent alternatives for dinner which involved a 1.5 mile drive to The Manifold Inn, Hulme End, (they serve Sunday roasts that are delicious: wish we had stayed there instead).

The Room:- Spiders/cobwebs/dust throughout the bedroom and bathroom.
Showergel dispenser - totally empty.
Dodgy hairdyer plug coming apart and out of date Pat Test.

Light fitting loose/hanging out of the ceiling.
Paper thin walls between other bedrooms - banging doors, hear neighbouring conversations, noisy bathroom extractor fan from room 1.

Nearby church bells ring every hour for whichever number it represents so yes 12 at midnight!

Due to summer heat, we had to have our window open. Unfortunately for us, it was bin day the Monday morning we left ... we were treated to loud, sweary bin men collecting The Tea Room's bin as our room overlooked it.

We left feeling exhausted and disappointed. If it wasn't for the Manifold Inn rescuing our evening meal, our anniversary would have been ruined.
At check out, there was no obvious staff around (as they don't serve breakfast) so simply had to leave the room key on a table.
Won't be returning and we don't recommend staying. Had we known food wouldn't be served we would never have kept the booking. Shocking communication on the side of the Devonshire Arms.

Great location but filthy. Could be phenomenal if cleaned!
Pros:

The location was superb. The bed was pretty comfortable and the room was well stocked with amenities and nice little extras like toothbrushes and sleep masks and hand cream. There room was a really good size and the little living room area was appreciated.

Cons:

All of the good things about the place were let down by the absolute lack of cleanliness. There was a lot of black mould in the bathroom - all over the shower head, the shower screen hinge and the corners of the bath. There was accumulated dirt in the bath as if it hadn’t been cleaned at all. The area around and behind the loo was also really gross. There was dust all over the room, for example, the corners of the bathroom floor, top of the side tables and lamps. There were cobwebs in all of the corners of the ceiling. Overall the room felt like it had not been cleaned which made both my partner and myself feel like we didn’t want to touch anything.

Not our best stay
Pros:

The comfortable bedroom except a cupboard door was hanging off

Cons:

The steep stairs,.. difficult for older people
The chicken schnitzel we both had was appalling
The proprietor a little too sarcastic.
Advertised car park....there wasn't one, it was the road.
We eventually ate in the excellent hotel over the road
Shower over bath...no walk in shower
