The check‑in was quick and the bedds were good, but unfortunately the cleanliness of the room completely overshadowed the rest of the experience.
Very disappointing stay.
At first glance, the room looked fine, but once we settled in, we noticed around twenty to thirty dead flies scattered everywhere: on the floor, on the window ledge, inside the drawers, on the bed and pillows, in the toilet, and even in the bathtub. There were also several flies flying around the room.
We went down to the front desk to ask if we could change rooms, but we were told it wasn’t possible.
For a hotel under the Marriott brand, the level of cleanliness was far below expectations, and the overall experience was very disappointing.
Wonderfully updated. Comfortable beds. Very clean
Needs more accessible parking
I liked the beds. They were comfortable and the room was clean. The new reno was good.
I think breakfast should be til 10 or 10 30 am. Also I would serve rounded sausages rather than flat ones. The kitchen area could have been longer rather than a small square shape. It got crowded. I would hang pictures above both beds and not all the same theme. The mirror should have been hung by itself. I would change the small light to a roller one on the desk. I heard someone stole one.
Close to Hwy 401, clean, friendly staff
Property was great, breakfast eggs were a bit discoloured in spots
Breakfast was just fair. Liked the mini danishes.
Hot breakfast items.
Nice staff and very accommodating.
Pets were only allowed on the 1st floor which Booking.com didn't mention. We were lucky to have been able to switch rooms.
The rooms were lovely and clean. Beds were comfortable.
A coffee maker in room would be nice.
Also, the breakfast was extremely lacking.
We stayed there last year when it was Comfort Inn and the upgrades and improvements you’ve made were a pleasant surprise, it’s very well done. Will stay there again without question!
It was just great!
Niets
This place opened too soon. It was not ready for guests, especially the number of guests that were there when we stayed. Most of the signs were printed on paper and taped to doors, the rooms had no clocks or coffee-makers.
The hotel is located between TWO garage stations, so there isn't much local colour. If you're on the first floor and like a little privacy, keep your curtains closed because your room is basically in the parking lot. The rooms are brand-new so they were nice but a bit small.
Breakfast was a disaster. There was only one woman handling a buffet breakfast for at least 15 people and she was overwhelmed. She was a very sweet lady but she needed help. The toaster was a cheap, two slice model that barely toasted anything, so there was a line for toast! There was cereal, but no milk. The buffet was poorly set up so there was no flow. Paper plates and wooden utensils might be eco-friendly but make it hard to cut a sausage.
All that being said, the staff were lovely. Very pleasant and very helpful. It felt like they were being set up for failure because whoever owns this hotel hasn't given them the right tools to do their job. I hope that the management read this and realize that the staff are doing the absolute best they can.
I like Port Hope and there aren't many hotels in the area, so I might return because I was treated so nicely, but management really needs to get it together.
It would be nice to have a coffee maker and a clock in the rooms. I don't want to have to get dressed and go down the hall if I want a cup of tea before going to bed. Have a special pet-friendly floor, so that you don't have to listen to a dog barking if you didn't bring one yourself.
Get another staff person to work the breakfast shift. It's too much for one person and the space is very small and gets very crowded, very quickly.
Keep the staff; they're the best thing about the place.
Very good and affordable!
