Thr room was decent, but thier was a issue with the bathroom sink, thr room was very hog even though i had windows open.
The restaurant was very poor the food was not what i expected, it was tikka curry, the sauce was clearly out of a packet there was no flavour at all, the chicken was dry and was not in pieces like a chicken curry, it says it comes with nan, and i thought i was getting a full nan , but all it was 3 pieces that was not edible and dry. When it came to the bill i was shocked because 2 tikka curries with 2 free side cost £64, thats a day like robbery , and i was clearly scammed.
I wanted a drink at the bar , but there was a queue and the bar man was very slow, i mustve been in the queue for at least 20/30 mintues.
Location and grounds. Parking on site
Dated. In need of refresh. Meals very poor. Dining area tiny and crammed. No tea making facilities in room.
Beautiful place
We booked a 2x double rooms online only to be contacted by the hotel and told that all they had left was twin rooms left. There were 3 of us so 1 room didn't matter about that but we asked if it would be possible to push the beds together and have new double bedding, the guy agreed and said he wasn't able to do it for us but we were more than welcome to and bedding would be supplied. Upon arrival unfortunately the guy had finished. The lady on reception basically flatly refused to give us any new bedding and said that it wasn't possible to push the 2 beds together. We were exhausted from working at Farnborough air show so just accepted her information. Upon getting to the room it was possible to move the beds so we did but had a quilt each.
Also they do not supply milk in the room for the tea or coffee, no sugar and no water. We were told to ask reception if we wanted milk and pay £5 if you want 1 bottle of water. For the cost of the room you would expect water and milk.
I have stayed in quite a few of the Mcdonald hotels but unfortunately this one let's them down badly. Tired rooms and unhelpful night receptionist. Such a shame as a beautiful old building with lovely grounds.
Beautiful surroundings and clean
Paid for a suite, air conditioning not working after three times of trawling down to reception from the top floor through the poorly signed maze three times was told to leave it for 20 mins each time. Still didn’t work ! Final time asked to be moved to something more suitable and comfortable initially told it was fully booked, turned out it wasn’t and was shown a room the opposite end of hotel. Was not offered help with bags so had to do the trip again. The room was basic but air con worked and was clean.
Breakfast was poor and staff offish. Very disappointing considering I paid a lot more for a very basic stay.
Comfortable pleasant stay, good staff service
Nothing
Lovely location beautiful property
The room was a bit run down there had clearly been a water leak or something but it didn’t affect much apart from the cosmetic look! The beds were really uncomfortable and the pillows were awful
Very helpful staff. Room was comfortable. Airconditioner worked well during the heat wave.
Great breakfast with many choices. Lovely garden to sit in. Relaxing ambience.
Car parking. Often had to park around the back.
The room was a very good size and dinner was nice. The staff at dinner were very welcoming and professional.
There were just a few things that didn't match what you would expect from a hotel like this, for example , some (not all!) of the staff were not particularly friendly, nothing felt very organised, when we went for a drink on the outside seating area, every table had dirty glasses and ashtrays on, bird poo all over the garden seats, in the morning there was litter all over the garden area, plug broken in the bedroom bathroom sink. Nothing was massively wrong with the hotel and we had a nice night but all these little things when you are paying over £100 spoil it slightly.
No air conditioning
Ok bu the breakfast room was a bit small
Great breakfast
Good tasty food at dinner
Nice to sit out for lunch on the lawn
Pretty grounds and a lovely hotel to look at generally
Good air-conditioning in the bedrooms
All very clean
Nice pool
Staff service at evening meal was poor; they didn't seem very with-it, and service was extremely slow or non existent throughout our meal.
No lifts very few handrails made getting to room arduous and worrying. Decor very tired..Bed uncomfortable.Very uneven surfaces in front of hotel made walking risky.
Outside tables covered in Ants ,tables not washed.
Very loud music prevented hearing colleague's conversation.Party and staff had no consideration for residents.
Food limited choice Tasteless.except the black pudding was delicious.
No tomatoes at breakfast.Fruit juice insipid.
Rooms not cleaned fully ,wardrobes too high could not reach hangers.
Tea and coffee facilities basic and miniscule biscuits size of a 50p.
Hotel not up to quality standards expected.
Hotel has nice surroundings.
