Zeer vriendelijk personeel!
Staff were great, breakfast was lovely - hot and plenty of options.
Room had several broken things (toilet door lock, lamp) and there was hair on the kettle.
Quiet location.
The meal deal is absolutely ridiculous
The main menu is good but if you go for meal deal than you screwed. As menu on it is rubbish. Whatever you do don’t buy meal deal. You’ll be disappointed.
room was fine for daughter and i - had a fan in room - air conditioning working but it was located right over one bed so one of us cold and one warm
the gym was apparently too hot and there was no lighting in changing rooms - relied on a large light on a chair - not very safe
Very good
The force of the water in the shower was very poor.
Location
Not very clean
Holiday Inn Colchester
Located outside Colchester convenient for Colchester Zoo and trip into Colchester to visit the castle.
Room Number 2026. A standard double room. Adequately furnished but no fridge which is only available in Premier rooms. Nearby railway line and road(s) mean there is noise.
Air conditioning in room but not in the gym! I could not use that facility given the temperatures during my short stay.
For parents with very young children be aware the pool depth means they will not able to stand up unaided even at the shallower end.
A children's play are to the rear of the restaurant. Adequate but no more.
Restaurant - buffet style breakfast with good range of foods on offer though serving any tinned fruit is unimpressive given the cost of the room. Evening menu, again good range although vegatarian/vegan options are limited.
Service - staff were welcoming and accommodating of our needs in the restaurant with three, young children.
The standard of maintenance/cleanliness in some areas was less impressive. Food trays left overnight in corridors, food left overnight on the floor in the restaurant and blocked, general access toilets adjoining reception.
Overall impression - mixed.
Comfortable and staff were lovely
I booked it as a treat for my Grandaughters although it was expensive for me but I did it because it had a pool only to find the swimming pool had maintenance being carried out on it which during school holidays was frustrating
The staff were very friendly and curtious , which is nice and the fact that they had a good gym and a pool of an extra bonus
A little bit too far away from stores, etc. If you don't have a car.\n A bus stop near the location would have been good.
The reception staff was very active and helpful. De room was clean, up to date and pleasant
Nothing
We’ll set out, a dining area with character.
The staff were genuinely supportive when issues arose,
The spa and pool was not open which was not advertised online, the room felt generally unclean with dirt, dust and other peoples belongings under the beds. The room we booked was supposed to be a double however was a room woth two singles which was not ideal, and staff weren’t overly supportive with this, however we made it work and beds were still comfortable. We also discovered bedbugs after our first nights stay however the staff were supportive and moved us to another room.
