As many others have commented, the hotel decor, carpets & bedrooms are very tired and in need of a revamp but for us, on this occasion, it suited us to stay here, mainly because of the car park.
Although it's worth knowing that non residents can use the car park for £10 per day

Extremely disappointing experience, especially for our wedding stay.

My husband and I stayed in the Windsor Suite at the Macdonald Compleat Angler over 24–26 May, with our wedding taking place on 25 May. We paid for one of the hotel’s premium suites expecting a special experience.

On the first night, the air conditioning was broken during a heatwave and the room was unbearably warm. Staff confirmed there was a fault, but it was never properly resolved.

The biggest issue came on our wedding night when we returned to discover there was no hot water. We specifically chose this suite because of the luxury bathroom facilities and planned to enjoy the bath after our wedding. We couldn’t use the bath, couldn’t shower properly, and the following morning there was still no hot water. Even an alternative room offered for a shower had no hot water either.

We then had to attend family events after our wedding without being able to shower properly.

To make matters worse, I was promised a discussion with management regarding compensation, but after around ten phone calls over several days I was repeatedly told conflicting stories about the manager’s availability and never received a call back.

For a premium hotel charging premium prices, this level of service is simply unacceptable. What should have been a memorable wedding stay became a huge disappointment.

Breakfast was adequate but nothing more for the price.
The main problem was the lack of staff, especially on reception: I phoned the hotel several times but on three occasions there was no reply, I was then promised a call back, which never arrived and was also then promised an email response to my question which, again, never arrived.

Rooms not clean, dust everywhere. Old bits of opened sugar in tea/coffee area. Broken shower, doors did not lock. Rubbish from previous stay in the bin.

The stairs to the rooms, air conditioning on a timer, want easy to get a meal and a glass of wine

The service and bar staff, the restaurant was massively overpriced and poor quality … the number of staff were inadequate and not experienced

All fantastic nothing I did not like.

الاستقبال كان جداً سي رائحة مكان الاستقبال سيئه للغايه ووسخه لاتليق بفندق كما يقولون في قرية الاغنياء وفندق بمثل عمره كنا ٣اشخاص(نساء)اعطونا غرفتين كل غرفة في مبنى الغرف غير مهيئة للمبيت في جو حار او عند ارتفاع درجات الحراره قليلاً لم يتعاونو معنا في ان تكون الغرفتين في مكان واحد. عندما اردنا تناول وجبة العشاء لم يسمحو لنا بحجة ان المكان محجوز طيب انا نزيله عندكم المحلات كلها مغلقه وبعد محاولات كثيره تكرمو علينا بالموافقه وكان عشاء باهظ الثمن رديء الصنع الله يعز النعمة بطاطس مقليه وغير ناضجة عصير برتقال معلب وقالو فرش
لم ننم تلك الليله لعدم وجود مكيف الموجود في الغرفة هوايا لم يتوفر في احد الغرف بداخل الحمام صابون ولا تلفون لنتواصل مع خدمة الغرف ذهبنا بنفسنا الى مبنى الاستقبال قالو الان يرسلهم خرجنا لنزهة في سنتر القرية المفجعة كل المحلات مغلقه قرية اشباح رجعنا للغرفة ولم يصل الصابون تخيلو ذهبنا لمبنى الاستقبال واخذنا نحن لايوجد من يخدمنا رجعنا الى المبنى الذي به غرفتنا وهو خارج سور الفندق اردنا ان نصعد بالمصعد ونتفاجاء بكلب مثل البقرة يخرج من المصعد مبنى متهالك واثاث قديم رائحته عفنه جداً لا انصح به والله قد خسرنا مبلغ السكن ومبلغ القدوم والرجوع الى لندن اكثر من ٤٠٠٠ريال سعودي

Dining room service poor.Menu same every night.

The room was quite small and had barely enough storage for two people spending 7 days. The in-bath shower was inaccessible for my wife who is partially disabled, and, because of the positioning of the screen was quite difficult for me to get in and out of. We had two long and two short flights of stairs to our bedroom ( no lift ). The breakfast was very disappointing and although we had paid for breakfast each day we only went in the first day . The main restaurant ( Riverside ) has a very limited menu and wine list for a hotel of this size and reputation.
