Fantastic
Pros:

We visited this hotel and restaurant to celebrate my fathers 90th birthday (we loved the location)

From start to finish, we were made to feel welcome, looked after and spoilt, we loved the drinks on the lawn too which was very special and a perfect way to start the evening.

Thank you to Om who did a superb job of making sure everything ran smoothly, he was fantastic, and kept checking in with us to make sure we were happy. A credit to your establishment.

The food, service and ambience was perfect.

Thank you again, we will definitely be returning.

Without a doubt, the most perfect location for a stay in Marlow.
Pros:

It’s a beautiful property and its setting is stunning with gorgeous views across the river Thames.

Cons:

I was a bit disappointed in the interior decor which was looking very tired & in need of redecoration. I feel it let the hotel down & when you think how much it costs to stay there, you would expect the appearance to be exceptional and sadly it wasn’t.

Perfect luxury stay in the heart of beautiful Marlow
Pros:

Beautiful setting. Lovely old building. Great room, excellent staff.

Cons:

A little pricey for room, although it was lovely.
Lunch also quite expensive, but worth it to sit in the garden enjoying the view.

Angler drifts downstream
Pros:

The hotel management should open their eyes and wallets. This hotel has a fabulous location and heritage which is eroding. Chipped doors, stained carpet (we were in 18) and furniture from an age of woolly low slung sofas and beige bathrooms. The lawn which looks to the north of Marlow over a Victorian church, the Thames and a magnificent Willow tree needs care. Our table was surrounded by cigarette stubs and the white tops of sugar sachets which has been discarded by customers. When a manager last looked at this and asked for it to be swept is anyone’s guess but by 6pm on the Monday we sat down the parched lawn was looking like ragged. There is no table service outside though you can eat and drink there from the bar menu. This may be because of local licensing laws but it is a pain. Every time you want to drink u have to go inside and then wait for it to come. So thinking about it there is service outside but only one way! This creates another issue - no one seems to come out to clear up. We had to ask 3 times to have our table cleared. The staff - perhaps too few or untrained- were willing when asked, but what professional hotel expects customers to walk in to ask for their tables to be cleared? (By the way other empty tables remained uncleared not just ours.) if the local licensing laws prevent staff serving outside why not offer QR codes on the tables? We went on a Monday. I had a sense that the herd of customers who had stampeded through the hotel at the weekend had left the place and people tired. we didn’t eat in Sindhu the much lauded restaurant because the maitre d said she couldn’t reserve me a window seat at 8.15 because others might come along before then. Isn’t that the point of reservations to ensure you get the table you want when u want it? Anyway when I looked in the restaurant at 8.15 was near empty. Sindhu lost à sale & we were left with another reason to feel the management here just don’t really get customer service not that lives up to the price and the brand. Which is a shame. It’s a fab town, the river is beautiful and the Compleat Angler is at the heart of it. But it feels like it’s being milked like a cash cow not loved as a place setting standards in a wonderful setting.

perfect location. Hotel needs to improve it's service.
Pros:

Perfect location. Very good breakfast. We had to upgrade to get a room that is accesible for one with mobility issues. When l called to enquire about accessibilty - l was told that i had to upgrade. To our surprise, we later learnt that the rooms were accesible by lift - although one had to walk outside and access the building from the parking area to access the lift.

There was an exceptional receptionist by the name of Sophie. Welcoming and pleasant.

Cons:

Very cold reception on arrival. The receptionist seemed more interested on solving what sounded like an IT issue.

The menu in the riverside restaurant was limited and the food and drinks overpriced. The waiters were pleasant but need more training - getting orders mixed up.

The telephone is never answered. It rings until it rings itself out. The reception desk is not always manned.
