The location of this hotel is great! The views of the cathedral and proximity to the town is wonderful.
The rooms are tired and dated. On a very hot day the fans supplied in the rooms were inadequate in dealing with the heat. I expected air conditioning in a four star hotel and it was only installed in some rooms and I think this needs to be stated clearly on adverts which rooms have it or not.
The fabric of the hotel is tired and dated and some areas of the restaurant were not tidied away even by the afternoon when I looked in to check cleanliness. Generally the bedding was clean but my duvet cover had a large rip in it and was changed the next day. Overall, I was completely dissatisfied with the accommodation and ended up having to share with a friend in a twin room yet both of us still had to pay for a double room each which came to over £800.00 for two nights! The venue refused to give any refund which meant we paid over £800.00 for two nights in a twin room and even the receptionist admitted that we had paid too much!
Before booking I checked the property had a lift. On arrival I discovered it doesn't service all rooms. I was expected to climb stairs to reach my room, I can't climb stairs so had to be allocated a different room. This took a while, the receptionist said I should have said I can't climb stairs when I booked! To reach my new room I had to struggle up 4 steps. Although the room had a fan it was incredibly hot. Outside was VERY noisy. Next year I'll choose a different hotel.
Good location
Helpful with secure site for bikes
Terrible breakfast

Location is ideally central and with a Prestige Room + Cathedral view the spacious room was very quiet and peaceful.
I had to pay £30 to upgrade to get air con and Cathedral view - despite heatwave so not good value for money.
More reception staff needed: not acceptable to have only 1 member of staff on duty who was impressive in trying to sort out a Japanese group of 4 with a complicated query about booking in, while I had to wait for some time.
Bed was comfortable and breakfast was ok. Great location
Toe nail clips on floor, dirty shower head, stains on carpet and generally needs some maintenance and updating
Location is superb. Parking convenient but a bit expensive.
Breakfast was dreadful and dining area filthy. First day the coffee machine didn’t work and took ages to fix. But the second day the breakfast foods had been there since the day before and we were told they were doing breakfast from the menu and when it arrived it was cold and not properly cooked. Bear in mind there was only us and one other couple and they were also bitterly disappointed. The whole hotel wasn’t clean (a big toenail was on the carpet in the hall the whole time and crumbs and hair everywhere.
Attitude of staff was not good and I overheard them complaining about how bad the hotel is. Not their fault though. Where’s the management?
The air conditioned room (Deluxe Suite) was delightful, especially as we were in the middle of a heatwave - worth every extra pound charged. I understood from discussions at breakfast that not all rooms have air con, but it's worth paying for.
The room was clean, well maintained and the bed was comfortable. The location of the hotel was ideal for visiting Winchester sights and for the start of the South Downs Way. Overall good value for money.
Breakfast was a disaster area. No food at 7am, no hot drinks, few glasses, little bread, no butter, no fresh fruit. However, the hotel recognised this and refunded the cost of the breakfast, even though some food started to emerge from 7:15 and coffee from about 7:30. Any hotel can have disasters but the important thing is how they deal with it and they dealt with it well, as the offer of a full refund was made before any complaint was raised, so well done. Most guests saw the funny side of the situation.
The bar and restaurant is very modern and had a good vibe
The bedroom whilst clean was a bit dated
Nothing

Location
Breakfast was late and poorly organised. No AC in rooms.
Great location, beautiful view of the cathedral and onsite parking.
Dated decor, bathroom had a musty damp smell. Taped down carpet as you walk through the hotel. Dusty social areas. Poorly lit corridors. Dirty
Stained carpet. Really stuffy and hot rooms. Limited amount of plug sockets that actually worked. Poor water pressure. We stayed for 2 days. When we arrived there were dirty sheets on the floor outside the function rooms- they were still in the same place when we left.
Nothing
Filthy everywhere, snots wiped on bedroom wall, hair in bath drain etc.
Staff attitude disgusting, unable to provide ice, glasses or anything else.
Very nice room with a great view of the cathedral. Excellent covered parking at reasonable prices.
The room was very hot in what was an extreme heatwave, due to not having air conditioning. We were also very disappointed to be told that the breakfast we had booked had been cancelled due to the hotel 'having run out of food', which to be honest we didn't believe at all and thought it had more likely been due to the heatwave at the time, possibly staff not wanting to work? This caused us great inconvenience as we were travelling on from the hotel that day and had to miss breakfast.
