I had a great experience at Holiday Inn while attending a course. Although I did not stay in a room, I was impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. The supervisor was especially helpful, approachable, and attentive, which made the experience even more positive.
Perfect venue for meeting - massive thanks to Thayn and team for everything!
We had a night cap in the bar and were served by Thayn who was a delight. Such a lovely barman with excellent conversation.
Stayed here for the rise of the footsoldier event brilliant staff polite the only issue I had was the over 30 night got refused entry because I wore trainers where the receptionist said it wad smart causal the security told me to go asda to get shoes and told my friend to go back the room and take his hat out so stayed in bar chatting to other foot soldier fans room was really nice with lake veiws nice beer garden
We’ve done lots of corporate events here and they deserve lots of credit. We have been looked after by Thayn and he’s professional, friendly and hard working. Anthring we needed he was always on top of it. Looking forward to using this venue for more events!
Thayne sorted us out big time. He came in on Saturday to set up our room
Thayn was a great server really lovely and helped us with everything we needed even at the end of his shift!
Jake was amazing l! Top receptionist couldn’t do enough for us and kept me company in the bar when I couldn’t sleep haha
The pros are:
Beds large and comfortable.
Bar Manager, Joe, was fantastic going above and beyond he even found some sugar free tonic water once we explained I was Diabetic then hid the last few bottles for me.
The cons are:
The buffet breakfast. Fried eggs were congealed, hash browns were rubbery, and baked beans were cold. All from just sitting around too long.
Oh and be warned the parking is expensive at 12 pounds a night.
Thayn was a gentleman and service was great
We have been staying at this hotel for the last 10+ years as we live in Canada and use this hotel as our base when visiting.
The staff are very attentive, pleasant and we have never had any issues with our stays.
We would especially like to give a shout out to Thanyn, who always takes the time to ask how we are and makes sure everything is ok.
This visit has been particularly difficult as we’re here for my Dad’s funeral and Thayn has been very considerate. What a great team member!
Keep up the great work.
Staff very friendly, Simone & kalum provided goo bar service
After a hard days work, stayed at the HI Basildon, everyone was brilliant, Peter and Nikolaj was especially welcoming, looked after me so well and made me feel at home, I would highly recommend this hotel.
Room smelled like drains when I arrived, and A/C unit would only chill not heat so I had to rely on bathroom towel rail for some heat. Room overlooked very loud car park for Festival Park, and was near the elevators and the room door didn't do a good enough job of soundproofing hearing people coming and going. Reception staff were nice and I'm sure they'd have moved my room should I have asked but I do long days when I'm travelling for work and can only be bothered to move rooms under direst of conditions. Dinner and drinks in the bar one night was fine. Parking is £12 per day which added to the rate makes this place expensive compared to the very nearby Premier Inn which doesn't suffer from the noise.
Fab customer service from the bar. Thayn was lovely and chatty
Great hotel, excellent location next to lots of eatery places if not wanting to eat at the hotel. Nice walks around the lake too if wanting to get out. We ate out one night and then the second at the hotel. Served by Christina, Gabi, Joe and Jake through the evenings who were friendly and efficient. The food on the second night was very good quality (burger with sweet potato fries) so thank you to Medi & Georgi the cooks for that!
Room was clean and comfortable. Only thing to improve would be the air con but I cracked the window and all okay.
Our recent corporate event at Holiday Inn Basildon was ultimately a positive experience, but it did start with some avoidable delays. The initial booking process and alignment with Head Office were noticeably slower than what we have previously experienced when dealing directly with the Basildon Events Team. In future, it would likely be far more effective — especially for returning clients and allowing the client/business relationship to grow — to allow the local team to handle the arrangements from the outset. Once communication shifted to the Basildon team, everything became significantly smoother and more efficient.
From that point onwards, the service was excellent. The Events Team — Jodie, Michelle, and Thayn — were all a credit to the hotel. They were organised, responsive, and genuinely helpful throughout. All items we asked to change last minute where no problem.
A particular highlight was Thayn, whose professionalism stood out. He managed every last‑minute amendment with complete grace, positivity, and a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude. His calm and capable approach made the entire day feel effortless. He is truly an asset to Holiday Inn Basildon.
For future events, I will specifically request Thayn, as he played a major role in making this event run so smoothly.
Always a great experience here. Christina has exceptional customer service and keeps us coming back for our business meetings
Room clean. Food good. Staff helpful. Christina especially attentive and customer friendly
I have been staying at the hotel for the last few months and every time have been welcomed and look after.
Thayn and the team were always smiling and willing to accommodate me and made it an enjoyable experience in the bar.
