A tired property that is quite pricey- although perfectly functional

Pros:

Handy location when arriving by ferry late evening. (Although the sign that says port askaig hotel is rather hidden by trees so we did loop around a bit first). Really welcoming staff, and nice little bar offering a range of islay and jura whisky and helpful guidance on these. Good filling scottish breakfast to set us on our way the next morning.

Cons:

A bit of a warren of rooms, at different levels. Old fashioned but comfortable enough beds.

Overpriced for accommodations.
Pros:

Location is great. Adequate size of room.

Cons:

Overpriced. Decor was substandard. Baseboards need cleaning. Shower needs grouting. Bed was uncomfortable. The closing of the front door was very noisy which vibrated the room we were staying in.

港に近いし、目の前にお店、ガソリンスタンドがあるのが便利。ウイスキー旅行ではボウモアやポートエレンを拠点にする方が便利だけれど、朝の散歩で目の前にジュラ島が見える光景も良き。

Altehrwürdiges Ambiente und familiengeführtes Hotel zum moderaten Preis
Pros:

Die private Atmosphäre um Chefin Marion, den Servicekräften Angus, Julie & Eileen, die traditionsreiche und urige Old Port Bar und das ganze Ambiente dieses alt-ehrwürdigen Hauses hat mir außerordentlich gut gefallen. Die Zimmer sind zwar in die Jahre gekommen, dafür ist der Preis auch einer der moderatesten auf Islay. Tipp: Drei-Bett-Zimmer mit kleiner Außenterrasse zur Meerseite hin. Frühstück topp! Fish&Chips ebenfalls! Sehr gute Whiskyauswahl!

Henkilökunta oli mahtavaa ja ruoka oli todella hyvää. Sijainti oli paras mahdollinen jos haluat vierailla juralla ja pohjoisen puolen tislaamoilla.

Cons:

Huoneet oli hieman vanhoja mutta ei voi kuvitella että vanhassa hotellissa olisi uusien mukavuudet. Hyvä sänky ja katto pään päällä se riittää hyvin.

Great location - horrible room
Pros:

It was super convenient for the ferry. It was literally right out the door.

Cons:

So many things. The hotel itself is very old and run down. The carpet in the room looked filthy. The beds were uncomfortable and the walls were very thin. We could hear people talking through the walls. The wifi was terrible and the hotel never answered my emails or texts after booking and that was day of and even several weeks before.

Great stay, well worth it
Pros:

I stayed here with 2 friends for 2 nights this August. It was a great experience.

Standouts were Angus at the bar, and Marrick. The service and care was really evident. Really really good hospitality that made the stay memorable.

The location is really nice, the breakfast was excellent, the rooms were comfy. Some low headroom, so a few bumps, but apart from that it was a really good stay.

It was right next to the ferry so no rush in the morning from elsewhere on Islay.
